Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook - Completed
Re: Advanced Hero Quest: Quest I: The Halfling Cook
Thinking on the plan a bit more, does Bellis need to come back into the corridor, assuming he kills the orc champion? After the fireball's been thrown and I go into that spot, it might be good for the following turn to have Bellis in the room somewhere. Give us more room for manoeuvre perhaps?
He'd still be able to move out of the way at the bottom of the room.

Yes, was wondering that myself. I think it's heavily dependent on him and Gibby finishing off that champion, and if he does then he'll need to move to a tile that isn't within the fireball radius (which will be centred on that smaller orc).Maturin wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 3:51 pmThinking on the plan a bit more, does Bellis need to come back into the corridor, assuming he kills the orc champion? The radius is 3x3,right?

Wrong. It's 2 x 2. I thought it was 3 x 3, but it's not.

Actually, I just realised something strange about it. Even though it is technically 2 x 2, if you target a single square it effectively works in a 3 x 3 way. I'll draw a diagram to explain what I mean...

So how do you target it then if there isn't a centre square to focus it around? It shouldn't be an issue if I kill the bottom-most Orc, move safely south and then Sly can still target so that it hits the other two.

The Fireball does not focus on a square, but on a single point. You can move it freely within a distance of 12 squares of the caster.
It is, geometrically speaking, the same dimenions as a 2 x 2 square...

...but if you place it bang in the middle of a square, it effectively covers 3 x 3 squares, as any model that "falls under it" is burned by it.

Yeah, if memory serves, we always centred it and it was in effect 3x3.
Nice diagram by the way.

Cool, thanks for clearing that up, Doug. I think we'll have to let Gibby attack and move and then Bellis attack before we decide upon the rest of our turn.

Hang on, I'm confused, which part of that diagram represents the fireball? ¬_¬

Hey Paulox, why don't you just cast your Flames of Death with Bellis in the middle of it? ¬_¬
