MÖRK BORG: Chapter II: The Greed Lineage

Giant Dances the Sea wallops the undead in the face with his femur. At the same time, Malaiz' arrow thunks into its chest. The creature staggers backwards off the walkway and it tumbles down into the valley beneath.

There's one undead left on the walkway, but out of sight, around the corner, busy engaged in combat with one of the three bloody skeletons GDTS summoned. You hear a splinter of blood-drenched bones as it chops the first of these to pieces with its sword.

Giant suggests that discretion may be the better part of valor through the medium of frantic hand gestures, and scampers off along the northern hallway. Can we see anything of note to either direction?

I'll fall back and follow Giant to relative safety.

Where are the peasants? I'd like to offer them our protection, but ask that they arm themselves and help as backup (I'll offer one my sword, which I can't use with the Staff anyway).

I'll also ask if they know where the Baron is.

The peasants hold up their hands and say they will not fight, but will greatly appreciate your help. Their offer of a combined fifty-four silver reward still stands, should you save them all. They say the Baron is likely in his chamber on the first floor, though they do not know exactly.

The northern hallway has two stairs at either end, going up, like so:

Reasoning that the western staircase is furthest from the currently known enemies, Giant will head up those. Sneakily, if at all possible...

Malaiz has a healing potion which he gives to Margar.

I'll follow Giant up the western stairs, advising the peasants to stay with us but keep a safe distance.

Malaiz squints at the instructions on the medicine box...appears the healing salve is in a suppository form.

Retreating from the chaos unfolding at the eastern door, the party and their new friends clamber up the north-west staircase and find themselves in the base of a half-cylindrical stone tower, no doubt the north-west corner of the castle.

Another flight of stairs leads upwards to a higher floor, there's a door in the south-east wall, and there are three narrow, vertical embrasures in the walls, allowing viewing and defensive projectiles to be fired from three angles, as part of the castle's defence infrastructure.

I assume it's best we keep heading up?

[Wrathbone]

With the peasants suggesting the Baron may be on the first floor (which I assume this is), I’ll open the door.

This is actually the ground floor. You just left the basement (the upper basement, as it were: the dungeon cells are in the lower basement)!

In that case, I'll keep going up.

Margar (and the rest of the gang, in tow) arrive at the top of the north-west tower.



Once again, three embrasures in the outer wall grant viewing and ballistic access, but the only other way out is through the door in the south-east wall.

I don't suppose we have the fantasy version of flash bang grenades handy?
