Barbarister wears the trousers in this relationship.

Also, in the forthcoming narrative, Lord Margar's noble family (before they were ruined) once presided over the farming village of Tünstal: they are (were) the landowners on which the village tenants produce (produced) food.
The Tünstal family crest is a cockerel:
Are you okay to have this device painted on your shield?

Absolutely! I'm sure nobody will be able to come up with any jokes about it whatsoever.

The one eyed, wilted Cockerel? No, nothing to make fun of there...

Another thing to consider is, you can't easily carry a sack with a tent, a rope, a bear-trap and a torch, if you're also trying to carry a shield and a sword. I suspect Barbarister's just going to have to lump it, like it or not!
Alternatively, you can hire a porter to carry your stuff for you. 2 silver a day!

Well I currently have 0 silver, so no porters for me. I was picturing the sword in a sheath, shield on arm, sack slung over my back as I struggle along while Barbarister berates me for losing pace, let alone my land. But if we're saying mechincally that's not possible then maybe I've persuaded Barbarister to at least carry the rolled up tent behind the saddle.

There's no problem mechanically, so I think your idea works!
Perhaps Lord Margar is somewhat timid and allows himself to be bullied and berated by a horse.

What's the sword think of all this? Rough leather scabbard, not getting oiled enough, too heavy with the whetstone perhaps!?

I'm sure it will let him know in due course...

Re: MÖRK BORG: Anyone up for a game?
I imagine his early life consisted of everyone being wowed by his incredible magic horse and his family's ancestral magic sword, while all the responsibility and expectations were lumped on his sadly mundane shoulders. And then when his land was destroyed for reasons beyond his control (according to him, at least), he took all the blame. So while I wouldn't say he was a coward, he's not exactly been motivated to stick his neck out for anyone unless it's to appease Barbarister or his sword, who have systematically worn his ego down to the bone.Stormbringer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:27 amPerhaps Lord Margar is somewhat timid and allows himself to be bullied and berated by a horse.
Also, given that he doesn't have a razor or even a knife, he lost his eye while attempting to shave with the sword (which yelled at him for doing it wrong, causing his hand to slip).

Very good!
And are you okay if I play the roles of Barbarister and the sword?

Definitely, so long as they keep Margar in check!
