Now that I’m vaccinated, I’m meeting up with a friend next week who’s also vaccinated for some drinks. The pay off will have been worth the wait.
That's only jab 1 of 2, though, right? And possibly for your friend as well?
Yes, but this particular friend is one of the few they're doing medical research on because he had covid super-antibodies or something without having contracted covid (to his knoweldge). He's doubly vaccinated anyway as he was considered immuno-compromised until recently (all clear now). Basically his immune system is nuclear grade. Since we're only having drinks round at his house, the risk is essentially zero.

Ah, right, when you said meeting for drinks I assumed that meant a pub... I guess given the conversation over the page I should have guessed

I've been working in hospitals (on COVID wards - oft sans PPE in the early days) throughout the whole thing, and I'm either immune or lucky as balls. At one point the walls were closing in around me - people I worked closely with dropping like flies, either due to contracting a nasty dose of it or testing positive / being sent home... but, unless the weird thing I had in early January 2020 was it (insane fever, came on really suddenly / passed within a day or two) then I guess I'm probably maybe hopefully fine?

Maybe you were just asymptomatic? Lots of people are.

Just had my second jab, arm not too sore just yet, but will see how it goes.

You'll be fine Sly, I believe in you.

However remember to pretend you're bravely soldiering on in the face of adversity to get some sweet, sweet pity points off the missus. :D

Good man. You can never get enough pity points. I like to think of them as the Xbox achievements of marriage.

Had a stonking headache yesterday that painkillers couldn't touch, but felt ok again by bedtime, and arm soreness had abated enough that I could sleep on that side again. So that's me all done then! :)

Yay! Well done Sly. See you in a fortnight for our ever growing lick the handrails on the buses club. Our motto is we are invincible!

I haven't quite worked out the Latin for it yet.

Booked mine in last night! I could have had an appointment on Friday, but sadly we'll be on a boat then on the way to sunny — checks notes — Isle of Wight?! Did I agree to this?

Anyway, first one is a week on Saturday. Gonna order a 5G sim now for my phone.

I wouldn't bother with the SIM. Once you've had both jabs your phone will ping off the 5G chip in your arm and upgrade your network automatically.

Anyone else listening to our beloved friend, Dom the balloon-headed snake? They say you should never see how the sausage is made, and yeah, everything he says is clearly tainted with his backstabbing agenda, but good god... if half of what he claims is accurate then the government is even more wildly incompetent than I thought they were. If anyone thinks Trident is still a good investment, consider that these hapless shits are at the controls.

I'm honestly a bit disappointed that he's just coming out with anecdotes of scandalous incompetence. We already know our leaders are scandalously incompetent, but the way that Cummings was defended during the Barnard Castle incident, you'd assume he had photos of Boris Johnson being banged by Donald Trump using one of the Queen's corgis as a sex aid underneath a signed portrait of Adolf Hitler hanging on the wall.
