Board Games
Re: Tabletop Games (Wargaming, Board Games, RPGs)
Does Lost Patrol play like a reskinned Space Hulk? Interested to know the differences between the two.
Re: Tabletop Games (Wargaming, Board Games, RPGs)
Looks good. The thing with unbalanced games, you can usually still have a good time with them for a while at least if the mechanics/theme is fun.
Re: Tabletop Games (Wargaming, Board Games, RPGs)
Fluff wise, Deathwatch covers the different chapters bit
I'm not convinced on the Necrons sitting there idle, but I suspect it's maybe for younger players anyway?
Plus it would basically be Space Hulk with Necrons if they could move, and Necrons have guns, which might just about make it impossible to win
My 'Nid warriors have magnets in them now, and it was all going so well until I realised this morning I've flipped one magnet out of 12 ><
Don't hobby after midnight kids.....

Reminds me of going for a walk through a Borg Cube, right up until you touch something

Re: Tabletop Games
AHA! I just sold all these on eBay this very week!Stormbringer wrote:I still have my Dungeons & Dragons: Adventure System collection (five games in total). Of all the board games that have been released since 2010, I've found these to have the most staying power in my collection. The rules are simple and well-designed and the components are nice. Shame I never actually get the opportunity to play them!
The only board game I own now is Talisman 3rd Edition, which happens to be my favourite board game of all time (for now ¬_¬)
In other news, I am still working on a home-made version of Advanced HeroQuest with a Prince of Persia theme:
This image is from last year, because I've done absolutely nothing with it since then, as I've been distracted by all manner of things.
However, next month (less than a week from now) I am going to buy a new set of paints and get those miniatures painted.

Re: Tabletop Games
Right, I've almost finished painting the first of the Prince of Persia miniatures -- the "Prince" himself.
As you (should) know, the "Prince" looks like this in-game:
and in front-cover artwork form appears like so:
And here is my version, using this fantastic 1990 (and therefore period-appropriate) miniature called "Young Thief" by the late Dennis Mize:
So far, this is just the base-coat and dry-brush.
After this, the model will be dipped in "Quickshade" -- a foul-smelling brown goo which completely transforms it, making it look absolutely fantastic as well as varnishing it at the same time. I'll probably wait until next month before starting that process. In the mean time, I'll crack on with painting the rest of the crew...

Re: Tabletop Games
Very tidy work, Doug.
Whenever I see a forum member posting model painting updates, I always get a small desire to get out the paints again myself.

Re: Tabletop Games
My son has just expressed a desire to have some warhammer models for his birthday. We even went to a local store to check out what one he wants. Jebus, 50 squid for a kit he wants. Then on top of that he'll need a blade, a cutting board, some snips to get the models off the cast thing. Brushes, paints. It's quite expensive!

Re: Tabletop Games
Don't buy anything from the GW stores -- they charge a lot.
Try Goblin Gaming or Magic Madhouse online -- they sell the same stuff for a fraction of the price.
But, generally speaking, yes, all good hobbies are expensive. Think about how much you might spend on computer hardware.

The store looks like a local indie shop so if he is I'll support him

Amazon for brushes, snips, craft knives.
