It did cause Mario Kart to trend worldwide on Twitter yesterday though. So I'm sure Nintendo are happy. :)

In fairness I don't think he commissioned this the artist had previously done one for the Obama lot.

More worrying is him putting his bumbling paws and comments today into the Journalist murder in the Saudi consulate. The guy is a complete buffoon.

He has a fawning painting featuring himself. Where he's the centre of the event (the Obama one just has him in the literal centre of the POV). That's bad enough.

As much as I detest the man and assume it's there for narcissistic reasons, both it and the Democrat one are pretty good. I dare say even someone who wasn't an extreme narcissist would have it up somewhere.

I don't like them, but they are good likenesses. However, have some humility and not have something putting you on a par with the other previous presidents inyour own house.

Even the artist is surprised Trump has hung the picture up... and hilariously it's not even the original (which the artist owns) but a laser-print:

Actually, the article says he's pleased.

I think the accusations of "narcissist" are a little weird. Trump is extremely egotistical, but this sort of thing doesn't seem incredibly out of place in the White House.

Come back when he demands to have his head carved on Mount Rushmore.

The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

I dunno; my idea of a public official has them being at least a little humble, knowing that they're there to serve the people they represent. Granted, there's very little evidence of that with most politicians, but I got that impression with Obama. Extreme egotism as a defining characteristic is something I associate with professional sports persons, where self belief in their ability is key to that ability being demonstrated. With Trump it's different; it's easy to believe that he thinks simply being elected president puts him on par or higher with everyone else who ever held that office, rather than his record. He's deluded, he genuinely thinks he's better than his predecessors, something that was well demonstrated by his visit to the UN a couple of weeks ago where he spouted his usual "better than any previous administration" rhetoric in front of people who absolutely knew better, and he got laughed at.

Besides, I'm not sure you can really own a brand that puts your own name on everything (in giant, golden letters) without being a narcissist.

Yeah, I think that's a fair point. My post was badly worded. I think it's fine to call him a narcissist based on his general behaviour.

What I really meant was, I don't think the hanging of this particular painting in the White House is a prime example of narcissism, even if he is a narcissist otherwise. I would expect to see this kind of thing in the White House.

It's not really "hilarious" that Trump's copy is a laser print rather than the original. Trump bought the print from Andy Thomas, the artist, because the artist only sells prints of his works, not the originals.

You can get your own copy here if you like:

And at the top it says:
The artist Andy Thomas, a self-taught painter living in Missouri, said he was surprised to learn Trump has hung the painting in the White House.
Neither of which is based on his direct quotes in this article, so I assume come from interviews in other publications they've drawn from only partially.
