In his mind he is very much a sitting President, still retains power and the right to executive privilege even if he does do something completely egregious, which is practically all he does. The man still gets called Mr. President all day every day by his surrounding bunch of sycophants and Qult leaning base. There's so much lunacy being thrown around, it's difficult to really keep up.

It'll be delayed until the midterm elections and then they'll try and keep delaying it until Trump can run in 2024. If he gets in again then he'll just pardon himself and everyone involved. Plus that'll be the last legit election in the US for quite some time I'd imagine, because fascism.
