I think his biggest legacy is he got a lot of our generation into gaming on the Spectrum. A fair few game developers started by making simple games on the Spectrum and moved on from there.

Colin Powell, 84, has died due to complications from covid:

He was vaccinated, so the anti-vax crowd are falling over themselves. The truth of the matter being: he was immuno-compromised due to treatment for blood cancer, which further backs up the need for societal vaccination to help protect those already challenged by health conditions.
Everything on the internet is 100% true.

It's just depressing at this point how little some people understand vaccinations, not to mention how they trust froth-mouthed pundits with agendas rather than medical professionals. A few weeks ago I got into an argument with a friend who is an anti-vaxxer (and conspiracy theorist to boot), and he was spouting nonsense about how the vaccines aren't working and are worse than covid, refusing to entertain any level of reason. I was so done with it that I should have just walked away, but instead I upended my pint over his head and then walked away (we were outside, at least). Not proud of it, but it felt good.

Anyway, he got covid last week and has now conceded that he should have been vaccinated. ](*,)

I'm a nice person, honest! He had it coming - it was kind of the culmination of 18 months of him spouting anti-vax, anti-BLM, pro-conspiracy tripe, which I and the rest of our mutual friends have consistently called him on. Not sure if I've burned that bridge, but frankly I wouldn't be upset if I have.

Anyway, RIP Colin Powell. In Bush's posse, he always came across as the most reasonable of them.

Except he pronounced Colin as colon.

That's the bit that I always find so bizarre. Surely catching Covid doesn't change the way they think it propagates or is defended against. Do they just suddenly get hit by a barrage of health workers telling them how stupid they've been and see the light? Is it seeing those "so called experts" in situ doing the stuff that's saving their life that suggests maybe they know what they're talking about?

I seriously hope that idiot doctor that largely started the anti-vax movement with the 'vaccines cause autism' bullshit realises how many people he's killed with that lie.

I can't understand how "in" was pronounced as "on" and I'm sure the guy knew how to pronounce his own name. Anyway I've mixed feelings about him, he was part of Bushes inner circle but he also came across as being relatable.

Anyone remember that TV show Falling Skies set in the 60's? They had an episode with a young Colin Powell investigating an alien base or something similar.
