I suspect Trump would never have attended McCain's funeral anyway; not only did a White House aide recently say that McCain's opposition didn't matter because "he's dying anyway" for which no apology was offered, but the draft-dodging Trump once mocked McCain for getting shot down and getting stuck in a POW camp (“I like people who weren’t captured.”). Despite being in the same party, Trump considered the man a bitter rival (particularly after McCain's last-minute change of heart on the Obamacare repeal).

That's a shame, he seemed like all genuine guy. The fact that he treated Trump with contempt and asked Obama to speak at his funeral elevates him highly.

When I was a kid I adored both cannonball run films, just for the cars at the time, but slowly started to appreciate Burt (and can't forget dom deluise). Rip.

I was bought up in a strict "christian" home, so cinema just wasn't a thing for us....but school used to do an after school cinema club where some dude brought in films long after cinema release, but pre- video. The first film I ever watched on the big screen was Hooper....oh my, what memories.... (and mammaries, in that birthday cake scene!) Loved his cheeky fun way of acting. RIP.

'cept it wasn't them. It was Captain Sensible.

I unironically like Chas & Dave, possibly due to my grandad, so it's a sad day.

I turned out to be the one breaking this news to a mate who's semi-friends with Al Matthews, via the convention circuit. At its peak he'd get late-night calls from a very drunk Al Matthews going off on stuff from his day (wherever he may've been) to the point where my mate found himself disassociating himself from one of his movie heroes.

Poor Apone.

Anyway, as Rossell pointed out elsewhere, the creator of Postman Pat just died:

That's a shame; Postman Pat was a cornerstone of my childhood.
