Yep, sad news.

Sadly we're going to start losing a lot of these guys of that generation as they rapidly approach their allotted four score on the planet.

I thought it was three-score-and-ten? Maybe the saying got upgraded for modern life expectancy...

Geoffrey Hayes from Rainbow has died

Geoffrey Hayes, who hosted long-running children's programme Rainbow, has died aged 76.

The actor and TV presenter's manager Phil Dale said in a statement to the Press Association: "It is with great sadness that the family announce that Geoffrey passed away in hospital with his wife, Sarah, and son, Tom, by his side.

That's quite sad.

I grew up living three doors up from him, we used to see him when we went door to door collecting for Children In Need. A bit of a misery to be perfectly honest, but Rainbow was a childhood favourite.

Mike the barman from Only Fools lived on the corner of our road as well (think he's dead too actually come to think of it...)

The 70s - brilliant decade. Given the PC we are drowning in today we need this sort of shite more than ever

I might be wrong, but I think that clip was something they and the crew knocked together as a joke not intended for broadcast.

I believe he worked at the Sainsburys near me* for a time. Either that, or it was used to film the ad he was in that goofed on it.

*Back Home, not where I am now.

And yes, Mike the barman died a few years back.

I'm within (what I consider) walking distance of that Sainsburys. Used to have a Saturday job at the Homebase too (I hated it).

A highly questionable and debatable assertion, I'd say.
