I wonder if he'll be recovering the ability to sweat?

Just in time for him to get his favourite table at the grand re-opening of Pizza Express in Woking. ;)

"It" - "He", the dog's gender shouldn't offend anyone (even thought his name does it seems).

I knew this would come eventually, but didn't think the RAF would replace the headstone or anything. Maybe put it out of view, or.... fuck at least they haven't dug yer dog up and cast ou- no. Lil' mate rests, aboveground sorts this shit out.

I have no issue with that headstone being removed. Imagine being a black officer at that base having to walk past that word emblazoned proudly on a memorial.

My only worry is that given the connection to The Dambusters, a particularly patriotic story, it's going to be a dog whistle (heh) to all the EDL types.

Is the headstone shown in the film, I think it is?

I forget whether the headstone is displayed, but the name is used multiple times in dialogue. It came as a bit of a shock really when I finally watched the whole film maybe ten years back (I'd only ever seen clips prior to that), as I hadn't been aware of the dog until then.

It's not seen in the film, no. It wouldn't have been laid until after the events of the film.

The auto trade has been doing that for years. I remember the hilarity when Toyota announced the MR2, which when pronounced in French is basically the word 'shit'. Also the Mitsubishi Pajero, which caused a mate of mine who spent 13 years living in Spain to fall about laughing when he saw it. "Ian, translated, that car is called the Mitsubishi Wanker"...

They probably also think Londoners will see the two together and think it's an ad for staircases.
