Inside, it is 24°c on downstairs surfaces here, the front door is south facing and reads 28°, my living room with windows, curtains and door shut reads 22°, that is after having the whole house open last night until I went to bed, then just the upstairs open.

Outside, the north side of my box bush reads 38°c at this moment, the front door reads 60°! Changing the birdbath water twice a day while it's this hot, the birds are constantly at it, along with insects of all descriptions.

It hit a high of 35 degrees in Lancaster, 4 higher than was forecast. That's the highest temperature I've ever experienced in this country. Mercifully it was only for an hour, and it's already started dropping. I stepped outside for about 30 seconds and it was more than enough.

I stood on the path at the back of the house to take out a rubbish bag, and burned the soles of my feet on the slabs :o

They're saying bare metal in the sun could be 60⁰ - 70⁰C, bridge structures and train tracks are warping. This corner of the world just isn't able for it!

It's peaked at 39 here today, unfortunately it was at the time I chose to go out for a stroll for an hour. It really wasn't that bad though, you just have to remember to walk slower than normal and keep topping up on cool drinks that will hydrate you.

The ice bath was a welcome treat when I got in though. Feet straight in and soaked a vest in it which I put straight on.

I wonder if every sci-fi dystopia started with a glossy marketing campaign like that one. And what percentage of the foundation material do you think will be comprised of dead slave labourers?

My mind always goes for the Arcologies from Sim City 2000. I still remember the description for one of them claiming that something alien lives in the lower levels.

Literally looks like how those dystopian mega-cities are always portrayed as. From the ideas proposed so far it sounds like a pure hellish corporate dystopia to live in.

Not that they will ever finish building it anyway.
