I've had this video stuck in my head for the past 24 hours, trying to work out what Jobs meant.

Honestly, I still prefer the aesthetics and functionality of Microsoft to anything Apple has ever created. I guess that means I'm a tasteless pedestrian.

Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

If you just accept that Jobs was nothing more than a marketer then all his bullshit is easily ignored.

I think if we go back to when it was from, Win 3.1 was pisspoor in comparision to anything Apple had at the time, Win95 was a quantum leap but still a bit messy. Newer iterations of Windows have overtaken the MacOS if usability, probably from Win7 onwards.

Personally, I think the crowning acheivement of Apple is the first few versions of iOS and the original iPhones. They were real game changers in every way and so far ahead of everyone at the time. Again, I think everyone has caught up but it's largely been built on the foundations of what iOS layed down.

isn't the new iphone really good

I opted out of the Apple universe many years ago as I could not live myself in paying such premium prices. I know they patched out the whole sync thing with iTunes but is what broke my camel's back. When sync deleted all my media on more than one time, I voted with my wallet and jumped ship to Android. I am happy here.

Never had a Mac. Since I use Windows I cannot be arsed to learn to use another operating system that runs fewer software packages.

I will give credit to Jobs, he knew where all this computer ownership was leading to and how computers today are omnipresent to the point that we cannot live without them. Where he got it a bit wrong, imo, is that style does not always win over substance.

Most days on the Internet, I go looking for high quality content. Every so often this makes me forget what the Internet is like, and then I find Darth Vader Playing Doom (1993) on a Toy Trumpet.
