You sweep the room but find nothing of significance.

Ok, after posting I realised the notes are probably what I was looking for here anyway

But I'm going to try to get into the common vault chest room now, and search chest #77 if I can.

Okay, so the portcullis to the Common Vault is guarded by the tired, inattentive guard. This is the general area where Fitz is normally posted, but you get the impression that it would be seen as odd to be actually in the vault at this time of night.

Ok. So, I think I'm going to de-cast Reduce so I'm normal size again, and as Fitz I'm going to stagger up to the guard, swaying a bit, and give him a cheery wave when I'm within sight.

Then, when I get to within arm's reach I'm going to pretend to trip over my feet, and slam into the guard with the intention of knocking him unconscious against the wall/grate (whichever he's closest to).

Woof - I rolled an 18 :D

+5 to that, so 23 total.

You stumble into him with a discrete headbutt that slams his head into the portcullis with a sickening bang, and he slumps unconscious to the ground.

Huzzah!

I'll open the portcullis and drag him inside so no-one stumbles across him while I'm busy in here. Then I'll drop the portcullis again for similar reasons.

Keenly aware that time is likely to be short, I immediately start searching for chest #77.

I'd imagine it's probably getting on for an hour by now?

About 45 minutes, I'd say.

The chest is easy to find as they're stacked on shelves and clearly marked with numbered plaques. The locks look very tricky in your professional opinion.
