Wrathbone, can't you take the disk to a disk-recovery company? They charge a couple of thousand but can retrieve previously formatted data.

And if it was a result of your software backup company not telling you the backup folder had changed, I'd say you'd have a good case for sending them the bill.
The laptop's already been refurbished and sent out to someone else in the company, unfortunately. I expect there will be some choice words for the third party after the meeting today, though it could get political. I don't get paid enough to concern myself with how the powers that be handle that. ;)

If it helps, just remember that C is a big, blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in.

Also, dog: Not a cat.

Just checking we don't have anything set up for this week that I've missed...

Yeah, nothing this week and almost certainly next week too I'm afraid. I was only meant to be at my parents' for a week, but my dad was rushed into hospital on Friday with sepsis from a food poisoning infection which then turned to pneumonia. He was discharged yesterday and is tonnes better now, but it could take a couple of weeks to recover and my mum will need some help with stuff.

Was pretty intense for a while since his 40c temperature and ragged breathing obviously set off the covid-klaxon, but he tested negative for it.

Oh mate, that sounds really scary. Glad he's on the mend now, but can only imagine what it's been like for you guys.

No worries about D&D, whenever you're ready.

Cheers - we're all shattered more than anything at this point! I think I had about 3 hours of actual sleep between Thursday night and last night, so I'm operating with the twitchy demeanour of a heroin addict. My dad said the mixture of 11 types of antibiotic they put in him caused hallucinations of bouncing snowmen, which sounds exciting and terrifying.

Right... I'm back home again, my dad's on the mend and my back's holding up, so barring any further crises (touchwood) I think I'm finally able to get back to D&D. :) I'm free any day but tonight this week.

Just the Wednesday or Thursday for me seems most likely this week.

I don't know about 'good'. 'Chaotic good' trending to 'neutral evil' by association, I'd say
