The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I'm looking into learning how Roll20 works because I've never run a one shot online before and it looks a lot more complex than I initially realised with all the tokens, map layers and lighting. Kudos to you Wrath for running two campaigns a week on this thing.
If I can figure it all out in good time to run this one shot I've got planned for some friends, then I might be able to put another one together that we could all do in between campaigns to give you a break and some extra time to prep whatever you were thinking of running for us next. Though I expect we could quite easily go on with this one for quite a while yet despite things obviously moving towards the end game.

I'd leap at the chance to be a player for a game.
Roll20 has a lot of quirks, but for the most part does everything I want it to. Give me a shout if you've got any questions.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Cheers, once I've got the basic planning all figured out I'm going to work my way through the Roll20 wiki and see how easily I can work everything into it. It looks like there's quite a lot of tokens and such available for free on there already and I just need to figure out how to import my own maps.
A little mini campaign might be good then if you want a chance to only play one character for a change away from the DM seat. I've already got the tentative plans written down for one based around a heist that I think should be decent, though poorly timed perhaps as Sly might not want to play a Rogue next time round.

More than happy to play an adventure with Mantis in the chair, I do enjoy playing rogue so would be fine doing so again. I might switch it up though when we start our next campaign.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Yup, I'm definitely up for more D&D. I'm not sure what I'd play; I definitely tend to be magically inclined, but other than that I've no definite plan.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Maps are basically just an image on the map layer. It can be a pain if you've got a map image that has gridlines built in and it's not immediately obvious how large the grid is, as Roll20's grid can get in the way unless you line them up. One useful tip to get around that is to right-click the map once you've placed it, go to Advanced and select Is Drawing. That removes snap-to-grid and lets you resize it with precision.Mantis wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 2:41 pmCheers, once I've got the basic planning all figured out I'm going to work my way through the Roll20 wiki and see how easily I can work everything into it. Another invaluable tool I use is this token maker:
https://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/
Just drag an image on it, size and align as required and you have a token ready to import to Roll20.

That's super helpful, thanks.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Just as a heads up in advance, I've got something on next Thursday. Would everyone be alright having our session earlier in the week? I'm easy on which other day.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Absolutely, any night is much like another for me, so anytime.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Yeah, I'd be fine with tuesday or wednesday.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Ah. I’m not back until next Thursday unfortunately.
Guess we’ll call this a mini summer hiatus.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I've got a friend who wants to join in on my little mini interlude campaign if that's alright with you guys. I know we're probably a good couple of months away from finishing this one, but I was just chatting with him about it and he said he was interested.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I've no objections.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Yeah, I'm more than happy for someone else to play, I was even thinking another player would be good for our next proper full campaign (though failing that we can always go down the Truss-puppet route again I guess, but more players is a good thing imo).
