The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
By the way, how's your work campaign going? Any major apocalypses triggered yet?

It’s been on hold for ages because three of the players are from our support team and they’ve been completely snowed under for the last few weeks. Things should start to settle down now, so hopefully it’ll start again soon and I can watch their accidental disasters unfold.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I doubt they can top our achievement. Two days in town and we have set the end of the world in motion.
I'm really curious as to what would have happened if we'd not given Briar the stone.

He wouldn’t have let you leave with it without a fight, put it that way. I did wonder if you’d try and use the teleportation circle in that room to escape. Honestly, handing him the stone was not on the list of things I’d considered probable to happen.

Telepor...what now?!

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I think that may have got lost amongst everything else going on! But yes, there is a teleportation circle on the top floor which is what Jula would use to send you to Waterdeep.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I think because we'd made so many mistakes already in our investigation that we didn't have the confidence in our theory about Briar, so with all the persuasive talk he was giving us it just seemed the better idea to give it over to him.
I actually had a good idea right after that session that we could have just lied and told him we'd hidden it somewhere for safe keeping so he'd let us leave then we could have done a runner. The gift of hindsight.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I think, for me, it all came to a head far sooner than I was expecting, as regards finding the traitor. I was utterly stunned when Brior marched in while we were having a jolly old tour of the cloaktower. I think I still didn't exactly twig (although he'd been on my radar since the stone in the guards' barracks) because mentally I was working to a different timetable for how long we had to properly expose someone (we still had a few leads to pursue), if that makes sense.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
I don’t want to say too much in case it becomes relevant, but it was the visit to the monks at the House of Knowledge that was the catalyst that kicked things off. Without that, the timetable would have been much slower.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
Rather than take time out of the next session with a long interaction where you guys aren't present, Wrath and I just played out Raven's trip to Waterdeep via PM. Hope you both don't mind, it just seemed like it would take too long out of the evening otherwise.
Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
That's fine - I wouldn't mind 'Raven' filling us in though prior to the next session, just so we know the lay of the land

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes
That's fine, makes a lot of sense to do it that way.
It honestly never occurred to me that we could have attempted to escape Brior. I ended up being a bit surprised that we were admonished for giving the stone over to him in this week's episode when it didn't really feel optional!

There’s always a way! Player agency always supersedes villainous schemes.

What we should have done.

Everyone good for a game tonight? If not I think we touted tomorrow as an option.
