Imagine being a producer on IACGMOOH. You have the power to feed a former Tory minister something unsettling. That must be a good feeling.

Also consider that we, the public, have the power to vote for him to do horrible things, and yet we can’t vote for our PM.

I’ve never watched I’m a Celeb and I don’t intend to now, but I do intend to vote relentlessly in favour of tormenting Matt Hancock.

I've watched a few earlier series. I feel confident saying he's going to be voted to do nearly every task until he breaks down in tears, at which point he'll be voted to do EVERY task...

So if you're a young person and you can't afford a passport or a full/provisional driving licence, or don't have time to arrange them because the gov have done next to nothing to inform people of the change, how exactly are you meant to vote?

Yet another march towards full blown fascism in the UK.

Disgusting isn't it, I'll need to get mine renewed as I checked to see if it was still in date and it turns out I never changed the address on it when I moved last year.

The whole thing stinks. The fact it was pushed through under some arcane law that bypasses parliament is obscene. Establishing it before any scheme to fully enable all eligible voters is obscene, especially when the need for it is virtually moot. ID is done at the registration level, virtually unnecessary to clog up voting lines with it. Voter suppression is the key goal of all this, whatever mask they try to seed.

The only legitimate reason for it would be if there was evidence of high levels of voter fraud, which as far as I’m aware is not remotely the case.

I picked 5 random council websites earlier and searched for both "voter id" and "photo id" and the returns had nothing that you would be looking for, and no information at all about getting a free ID. Utter crass electioneering.

He'll be back either within 6 months, or by the time the next Tory PM takes over, whichever comes sooner.

I like how he's resigned because it's "becoming a distraction to the good work the government is doing" but he refutes the allegations against him.
