But fair.
Also, Thomas Cook dominating three whole threads today. If you all cared enough to throw them a few quid, like...

Re: The Elephant in the Room - Brexit
I am sorry but I disagree. Brexit cannot explain why the company has been losing money for a decade. I went on holiday to Spain this year, and most people who went on holiday abroad did so, Brexit or no Brexit. The weak pound obviously hurts but Thomas Cook went under from simple business incompetence. Their holidays are most likely shit and people are more dis-earning these days.

I think it's a wide spread of factors, hence why they've struggled for years. But losing 20% of their trading power due to currency devaulation in a single night three years ago has almost certainly tipped them over the edge.
Not to mention people not buying their packages out of concern for planning holidays around a continuously extended Brexit exit day. I haven't planned a single trip abroad for next year until I know what's happening after October and I know a few others doing similar, it seems pretty widespread. Brexit uncertainty is hitting every sector of our economy in some shape or form due to people not wanting to commit investments.

Well well. That's the prorogation in the bin. Where will the Brexit roller-coaster go next?

Glad that the Supreme Court ruled the way they did, and particularly that it was unanimous. Trying to guess where this goes next is a fool's errand, though.

Maybe he's hoping this will trigger a General Election, which will win his Brexit Party lots of votes, since the Tories don't seem capable of delivering?

So is farage. On everything not just that.
Re: The Elephant in the Room - Brexit
Saw a comment on the Thomas Cook debacle that made me laugh today, went something like this.
"Brexiteers should be delighted at the prospect of thousands of plucky brits being stranded on foreign shores, it should appeal to that much vaunted Dunkirk spirit. Go on, off you toddle and collect them..."

Wait, just wait one damn minute. Are you telling me that suspending democratic process because it's inconvenient to your agenda isn't allowed? Just who the fuck do these judges think they are?
The comments I've seen are just downright mind-boggling; "judges meddling in politics," that sort of thing. Not prime ministers breaking the law, no. I can't understand how *anyone* could be comfortable about the suspension of parliament, whether it benefits their chosen stance or not.
