Passports

Post by Rossell » Mon Jan 28, 2019 9:29 am

Hi all. Got a new passport end of last year. You now have to sign them yourself.

Having got it back out I fear I may have signed it too small. It's on the line and not below it. Passport office tell me without seeing it that it should be fine. I'm not so sure. Anyone know anything about this?

I can't imagine it would be a problem. Signatures are such a stupid form of identification in the modern age that there is virtually no basis for using them. If they've ruled out identifying you by every other means except your signature then you've got bigger problems.

Plus bear in mind your passport has biometric information built in, plus a picture - am sure you will be fine.

Thanks.

I've been told I can get it checked out by the post office. If not a good response I'll have to buy a new one. My own fault so I'll cough up if need be.

I'll admit though the new passports are not well designed in this department.

Got mine renewed (after a 4 year lapse) this Summer, and that signature line confused me too....had to do a fair bit of deliberating before signing.....stupid, stupid design.
