I had something like that a few weeks ago, along with most of the people I work with.

Mainly an American thing, but when people say "a couple something" rather than "a couple OF something". e.g. "I'll be out of town for a couple days". It bugs me almost as much as "I could care less".

We're going to see more and more of a transatlantic mode of speech emerge in the following generation or two.
Between tedium and fright
Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

I'm okay with some of them, as long as people don't start saying 'erbs instead of herbs.

"I could care less".
That's the one I find most frustrating because it simply doesn't make sense.

I know a British person probably shouldn't be casting shade here, but I hate that Americans call vegetables "veggies". It just sounds so infantile.

I've never heard an American say that, and I've known quite a few in my life. :-k

Perhaps you don't look through as many recipes as I do, but it's pretty common.

How drunks, annoying teenagers, smelly people etc somehow always zero in on the seat next to me on a train.

Just put your hand down your trousers. They won't be long in looking elsewhere for a seat.
