That is the weirdest one, I must say.

Prime Video deciding to move series from free to paid while I am mid-way through watching them. First Justified, now Mr Mercedes. Wankers.

Virgin Media's live chat.

They keep saying things like:

"Sounds great, right?" and "That cool?" at the end of every answer to every question.

It's just so irritating and makes me grind my teeth.

Ugh, completely agreed. I try to avoid live chat whenever possible because the agents behind them never seem to have the ability or authority to achieve anything. It's as though they're designed to waste as much of your time as they can without addressing anything you actually require from them. I had one with Sky a few years ago where we'd spent 20 minutes discussing arrangements for an upgrade of some sort, and when it came to placing the order he informed me that it couldn't be done over live chat, so he gave me a number to call where I'd have to sit in a queue and then go over it all again. ](*,)

I called their cancellations department instead.

EDIT - Actually that's a lie. I moved to Plusnet and they called Sky's cancellation department instead. And then there was a cock-up with the Plusnet order where I was forced into a lengthy live chat which achieved nothing. :x

A lot of live chats nowadays are just bots. They're typically useless unless you have a very specific problem that you can accurately describe so it directs you to the right phone helpline.

Virgin begin with a bot that transfers you to a human if you answer a series of basic questions. The humans did not fail to give me what I wanted, it's just the way they communicate that is irksome. It's all the "Millenialisms" -- that pseudo-American-surfer-speak coupled with one too many emoticons.

In a similar vein, GiffGaff do a similar thing when communicating....
You've chosen the perfect goodybag. Top job.
Don't forget, you still have £2.00 credit to be used on those little extras that aren't included in your plan. Nice one.
So, we've put together a few questions, which will take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

Thanks a bunch.

Ta ta for now,
Annoyingly over familiar....great sevice though, value for money.

How I went for a quiet hot chocolate in Morrisons' cafe while I waited for my sons' cub-scout meeting to end, hoping to chill out for 45 minutes or so...

...then suddenly a small army of loud school children invaded the place. They were promptly thrown out by the waitress, who told them they couldn't stay if they weren't buying anything. They left, then went outside and started banging on the windows and yelling for the next twenty minutes.

I stoically ignored them, as is my custom.

However, there was a silver lining, as the waitress then announced to a small remnant of the group (4 girls) who actually did buy something and stayed inside the cafe, that the entire group was henceforth BANNED from the cafe. Good end to a shit incident.

The person who thought the self-scan till voices in Poundland would be endearing deserves a slow and painful demise.
Imagine working there and having to listen to it for literally hours every day, Hell hath no greater torment.

Your Poundland has self-scan checkouts?! Fancy.

Ours still have your bog standard dead behind the eyes humans.

Not as bad as the Stratosphere in Vegas. There are a couple of lifts that are manned by an attendant that has 8 hour shifts, no windows or anything and it's hot and sweaty.

However his day was slightly improved because there was a camera into another lift, and one of his attendant friends obviously had a very farty customer and his reaction was gold.

Watching the wildfires in california, specifically Sonoma County. Was there less than a week ago doing some wine tasting. Great region with great people, hoping they pull through :(

Do you mean the Halloween-themed dialogue? Or the Valentine's Day set I encountered last year, which was just flat-out fucking creepy?
