My wife just told me today was the second hottest day in the UK since records began. Yikes!

It is vile. I am born to inhabit chillier climes, global warming is a right Edwin if you are anything like me.

Same, Snowy. I hate hot weather.

As an aside, can someone explain the Edwin thing? And not just "cos Edwin was a c- an Edwin"

That's basically the reason. It was an automatic word filter on Prey's, so when you typed the c-word it came out as Edwin. Then after a while people just started typing Edwin themselves and it became habit

Hm, actually it's a filter here too. To be honest I think most people type Edwin themselves anyway.

I'm not sure why Prey set it up like that, presumably Edwin did something to annoy him. It's just one of those little forum injokes that I find slightly amusing and wanted to preserve for posterity.

I think the fact he's not here any more to provide any context makes it even funnier

The bloke with the baby as his avatar, right? He was a bit of a prick tbh, but I thought maybe the joke was from summat more serious.

WoOF should use "Martial Law" for theirs, I guess.

Ah no, Edwin was a top bloke. Shame he never joined the new collective.

Hmm. Was a fair bit since I got locked out of my account, so maybe he got better.

Back to ranting. I have a general policy that setting fire to kids - all people, even - is bad. But the noisy teenagers who have been making a racket in infuriating earshot distance for the last fucking forever are pushing that policy to its limits.

I’ve had approximately five hours sleep in three days. The snapping point is approaching.

So I'm currently playing through The Witcher 3 and I can't help but notice it's a bit pants.

Unpopular opinion I know. It isn't a bad game, but I don't get what all the hype is about. It's predicable and boring.

Apples move to copy Samsung power button placement. There’s never ever a need to be able to quickly access the power button, especially with things like lift to wake (or whatever you call that) so top of the phone, no matter how stupidly big the phone, is the perfect place.

Also big phones can fuck off too. Iphone SE is perfect, anything larger is bad.

Maybe it's because I'm a leftie, but the Samsung button placement seems ideal.

EDIT: No, I need to rephrase that. The power-button is ideal, it's just a quick trigger-finger press to wake it and check the time/see any activity, and again to idle - having the volume buttons on the opposite side, where I'm applying leverage to do this one-handed, does sometimes cause me to mute my phone by mistake.
