I try to walk him on the grass and shaded parts of the pavement as much as possible, luckily it's pretty leafy where I live.

[the] big firey ball in sky.
It really brings home how immensely lucky planet Earth is, in the grand scheme of things, to be orbiting in a position where the ambient temperature doesn't fluctuate too much to kill off all life on the surface.

Just a few degrees and we're nearly toast :)

Depends on your perspective. Life is found on planets that are capable of supporting life, so in that sense it's not so much luck as inevitability that we happen to be in the sweet zone.

Frankly I wouldn't mind if we veered into a slightly cooler zone. ¬_¬

40°c (104°F) is possible by next Monday, Saharan air moving up over Spain and France will raise temps over the SE...to think I used to work out in the fields in this...

Forty degrees?! Surely not. It's forecast no more than 24 where I am oop North, I find it difficult to accept there could be a 16 degree difference.

"Is possible", they separate out a swath from Hampshire, through London being most at risk. Inner City London will cook. Monday will peak, then get cooler from then on.

I was in Dubai last week where it was 41 degrees for a few days and 39 the rest with overnight lows of 32. The humidity was also nasty for the first couple of days but it's surprising how much you get used to it after a while. However everywhere indoors is Airconned massively of course and generally you're outside for shorter periods non-withstanding sunbathing/cooling in a pool.

30º today, expecting 32º come Sunday/Monday.

Portable air-con units are worth their weight in gold at the moment, and they're fucking heavy.

And that's the story of why I'm not allowed near pregnant women for the next few weeks.

A mate of mine was saying at the weekend that a friend of his has just had heat-pumps installed for less than £500 with a hefty subsidy. By all accounts they work as air conditioners. Where do I sign?!?!

Edit: Arse, no longer subsidised.

I'm quite enjoying it. Would be nicer with a sea breeze but it's been pleasant enough so long as you don't need to get anywhere quickly.

It's not as warm as it is elsewhere in the country here, but I went for a walk during the hottest part of the day and actually quite enjoyed it. It's a temperature I would not have enjoyed in the past, so I wonder if it's the fact that I weigh like 20% less than when it was last this hot.
