Tasteless Christmas decorations. Unfortunately all too common.

I'm going to buy a pound shop bow and arrow.

Funnily enough he's just fallen down.

That could be prophetic. ¬_¬

Customer support people that talk over you on the phone. Just been onto the local council to arrange collection of some bulky items and every time she asked me a question she spoke over my answer. It took several minutes to explain what a subwoofer is (which to me is not so alien as to require explanation, but hey-ho) because I tried repeatedly to say that it was an electronic box for audio that doesn't work anymore, but she kept interrupting with "I don't know what that is". You'd know if you listened, FFS! :x

After establishing that, she interrupted me again with some unintelligeble militant demand. I tried to ask her to repeat it, but she blurted it out again as I was asking. Eventually I worked out she was asking me for my postcode, then she shouted over me with the next question as I was answering.

I've worked in customer support, I know it's no fun and it's often frustrating. But fuck me, if there's anything I learned from it, it's that you don't make a conversation anymore confusing than it has to be. I wonder if people like this ever attempt to converse with anyone face to face, and if they needlessly talk over them then.

Is that John Madden?

92 was my favourite on the MegaDrive. It was all downhill after that. Like all EA Sports games as soon as they got a stiffy for realism I was out.

FIFA 95, NHL 94, Madden 92, PGA 2. Everything afterwards is dead to me.

I had a soft spot for FIFA 98, where you could visciously injure the goalkeeper for no reason and get sent off.

Celebrity comedians.

People like Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand et al, and how they seem to transform over the course of a couple of decades from "people who tell jokes on TV" to "experts on everything" who seem to weigh in on debates about any subject, appear as special guests on almost any TV show -- sometimes even getting cameos in films -- and whose non-academic opinion seems to carry far more weight than it should.

People with halitosis.

I took a mate's wife to see Amon Amarth last weekend. She is a lovely lass, and a lot of fun to be out with, but bugger me her breath could have felled a charging rhino, 300 style. Unfortunately she kept talking to me during the band - a metal band playing at full tilt, and me with earplugs in, so she kept inflicting her breath on me. I was forced to wrench my head round out of the line of deathmouth each time as if presenting her with my ear - by the encores I almost had whiplash.

And what else could I do? "Hello mate, have a word with your wife, I think she brushes her teeth with shit rather than toothpaste".

People who think that it's ok to fill your bin up with their rubbish, the day before they get collected, so there's no room for yours.

Don't put the bins out until it's collection time?

Eh. I used to try that, but we have an exceedingly small garden and the bins took up too much space, plus to get them out to the street where they get collected I have to drag them up several steps, which is a hassle when they're heavy and full. I put a padlock on the rubbish one for a while but I always forgot to take it off the night before collection, which meant either me running out of bed at 6am in my undies as the binmen came round, or not hear them and not get it collected.

It hasn't been a problem for ages so I stopped stressing about it, but sure enough yesterday some other Edwin's rubbish filling up our bin.

Happens with the recycling too, or used to. The last time it happened, because I can be an extremely petty person, I pulled out all the recycling that wasn't ours, found a bill with the person's address on, bagged it up and dumped it outside their back gate with a shitty note stuck to it. Hasn't happened since, although I still see that person cruising around our parking area with armfuls of their cardboard etc finding other people's green bins to dump it into.
