Apex Legends [PC, PS4, XBone] - Respawn's F2P BR

I find this game a bit of a mixed bag because of the bullet spongey shooting, but everything else about it is so streamlined and fun that it's still probably the best BR experience I've had since the early days of PUBG. Clocking someone with a sniper rifle headshot from a decent distance away and seeing it flash up as only doing 20 damage can be pretty jarring to watch, likewise when you pump an entire SMG clip into someone and they're still standing.

Still enjoying it myself. I'm even getting used to the bullet spongeness. With a friend from work, and also a useful random, working on another squad, person by person is fun.

56 hours on this so far, way more than most games. The last game I got hooked on was R6 Siege but I ended up giving up on it after too much bullshit.

The bullet sponge thing is fine, I think, if you note how your first shot goes and decide how to continue fighting from there. If you get the splat sound of no armour just go full offensive, if you get the purple damage indicator break off and go for a more hit and run approach until you've whittled them down a bit. If you've got a Peacekeeper and you get the drop on someone though you can kill pretty much anything.

I find sniping in this is more like it should actually be in games, which is to be really annoying to the enemy and prevent them healing or focusing on your team mates, rather than getting mad kill streaks or loads of damage.

I'd say we should get a forum squad going but that's never gonna happen!

The community seems to be tilting away from going for wins and just going for loads of kills, on PC at least. Everyone drops into the same point, gets a couple of kills, dies and starts all over again. If I get matched with someone with 5000 kills on their banner I just assume we're in for a quick game now.

Bit of a shame.

Perhaps if there wasn't a banner for it. I'd rather have a banner for number of rounds played .
