I will give them another go as I get it free with ReadlyDjchunKfunK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 9:29 amComparing RPS to Edge is elevating RPS to a position it doesn't deserve. The whole Edge being obnoxious thing really feels like a hold-over from the late 90s early 2000s when they were a bit like that. Now they are one of the few places around that does good long form games writing.

I just uninstalled Brave 2 days ago on an annual HDD clear up as I never used it. Maybe it's time to reinstall

Re: Control
I just use Chrome with scriptblock. Both Eurogamer and RPS load fine when they are blocked from running scripts and as a bonus you don't get any comments. It's win-win.
Re: Control
Chrome with ublock origin. Does the trick for me as AdBlock stopped working on certain sites or got moaned about as adblocking

I use ublock origin and haven't had issues on any sites that request I turn my adblocker off.
I don't read RPS anymore though, they are too self righteous for my taste.

Re: Control
I do still browse the site from time to time but this is absolutely bang on the money.
John Walker and his right-on crusading used to stick in my craw something rotten. At a basic level I tended to agree with his sentiments too, but he was so fucking puritan and militant he was almost as bad as the behaviours he was railing against.
I abhor tabloid journalism and so also read the Guardian pages from time to time (as well as others), and they can be the same. There are only so many articles you can read extolling the virtues of artisanal vegan transgender farm shops or whatever before you get a bit tired of the holiness being force fed to you. I have no issues with vegans or trans people by the way, I treat them no different to anyone else and I suspect that it how it should be, I just don't want to be lectured.
The new crop of 'writers' on RPS outputs tends to be either Walker-militant or puerile gibberish, and their reviews can sometimes leave you knowing nothing about the game. I read their review of U-Boat, a game I had wishlisted for a while, but left the review with no idea what the game was actually like.

Re: Control
I will be getting a copy but probably wont have time to play it until next week. Hearing that the combat is a lot like Quantum Break which is good because I really liked the combat in that game.
Re: Control
I didn't get going with Qauntum Break -couldn't get the keyboard controls to work for me, but then I am a bit of a luddite when it comes to controls...managed Max Payne without any problems if that's relevant? Anyway, is the only way to get this game (PC) via Epic store. For £48 !? Surprised cdkeys hasn't got it yet.DjchunKfunK wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 10:04 am... EDIT: controls excellent (PC); world is a bit bland and grey... but good start.

Re: Control
Can anyone give me a tl;dr of this game? The launch video shows some superpowers and giant monsters, but that's all I know at this point. What's the deal?

Re: Control
It's a third person shooter with psychic style powers set in a detailed world, as is usually the case with Remedy, with Metroidvania elements.

Re: Control
A good few hours into this now and I'm enjoying it. It has a few small issues like headshots being a bit finicky and the preponderance of grey due to the game being set in basically an office building but other than that the game has been good fun. The combat is punchy and it has that classic Remedy thing of debris flying off everything which adds to the enjoyment. The skills are fun to combo together and the guns are pretty meaty. The main story is decent but it's the incidental and environmental story stuff where the game shines, I feel like that has always been Remedy's forte. So yeah, so far, so good.
