The game lags like a mofo after an emission storm. Anyone else having a problem with completed side missions still coming up as not done on the map?

I returned to the first town yesterday to see if they had any useful attachments...
Spoiler
the town was trashed and the shopkeeper, barman and tech had all been executed. I love when games have the world change because of your actions
I found some random guy (with a Brummie accent..) asking for help testing emitters. Got bum rushed by several bloodsuckers and my trusty shotgun decided to start jamming. In fact the whole excursion around the opening area resulted in my guns and armour getting trashed. Expensive little outing.

Have you removed your a-life mod now, Ian?

I've given the game a break for now.
No not touched anything I dropped into the game folder. No idea if it affects anything, but since the patch the Zone is a lot less empty.

Entered the Red Forest area, it's full of trench systems and zombies. I might be reading too much into it but that seems like a less than subtle dig at the Russian's who decided it was a good idea to dig trenches in one of the most radioactive places on the planet.

Also finally managed to kill a poltergeist, I hate these asreholes. That just leaves the pseudogiant and I think I've killed one of everything.

As far as I know, it is just the Chimera I haven't killed yet...had a few Bayun which I thought weren't in the game, poltergeists I face tank with a shotty now — keeping them engaged stops them building their throw. Managed to get The Weird Bolt yesterday, my god that took sooo long, I hate parkour puzzles....

Played it last night for the first time in a week. 20 minutes in I got bum rushed by a pair of bloodsuckers, said fuck this and turned it off. Might have overdone it on the first few weeks of release.

Yup, that was infuriating beyond belief...I confess, I no-clipped to somewhere higher, just to get the fucking thing done. I am just after that, needed a break from the game for a bit.

Got through it after reading how, was surprisingly quick then. My armour is now destroyed and my weapons wreaked, all of which will cost more money than I have to repair :?

I've resumed my playthrough of this after taking a break of a few weeks, and it's definitely helped to recharge my batteries. I've got most of the map explored now apart from Pripyat, which a brief excursion to Yaniv seemed to indicate is currently story-locked in any case. In terms of story, I've just finished the boss fight against Faust. Died a few times, but had a couple of pretty powerful guns by that point - a sniper/AR cross-breed called the Clusterfuck and a Ram-2 semi-auto double-barrelled shotgun thing I grabbed in Yaniv - so got him on my third or fourth try.

Not sure how much more story there is yet to come, but feels a bit like we're getting towards the end-game, I'm kinda done with exploring now and will likely focus on the story until the end.

I was a ball hair from uninstalling this after having not played it in so long. It was so fucking frustrating to keep dying to something I can't see that's throwing stuff at me in a pitch black room. I feel like the game has actually gotten harder after all the recent bug fixes. Bullets are as effective as marshmallows in many situations while getting a cardboard box across the side of the head takes 90% of my health. I have the gamma on the settings ramped up just to make anything out once it gets dark.

I really want to support this game and the developers but I'm finding it very difficult to scrape up the enthusiasm to even play it. The console version is in dire need of mods.

So I took another small break and decided to power through it as best I could. I'm currently in the settlement that you started from in the first game near the railway bridge. Cleared a few raider camps out for Sidorovich and am now looking for a bunker. This has to be near the end surely?
Spoiler
I rescued the guy who knows the bunker location and he's waiting for me there

I think I might be done with it... have been playing for 80 hours and feel like I'm still nowhere near the end (still haven't made it into Pripyat), and while I've mostly really enjoyed it, I have felt interest waning the longer it goes on, to the point where I don't really feel like playing more. Normally I'd grind through to the end just to see what happens in the story, but honestly I've found the plot so baffling that's probably the aspect I'm least engaged with.

Really good game, outstayed its welcome a bit for me, though.
