Canarying for the team, will report back soon
EDIT: Rather enjoying it. Only 6 hours in, and looking at the map it looks pretty large, but liking it so far. Looks really lovely, especially the 'reclaimed by nature' modern buildings. Seems pretty well acted, storytelling not yet making me skip through dialogue, and I like the combat and movement far more than I did Monster Hunter World (which I really didn't get).
Got a handful of nice weapons, plus just acquired the ability to override some of the creatures which lets you get mounts, set up machine vs machine fights etc.
Yeah, early days but positive initial impressions.

Put some more time in on this one and really liking it I must say. Hunting is very cool, with a neat mechanism whereby as long as you are hidden, you can generally take down the weaker monsters quite easily but if something goes wrong and you are detected, your day can end very badly very quickly. I love sneaking around like a post apocalyptic ninja picking off the easier baddies in order to give me a better shot at the bigger ones.
And the bigger ones can be pretty fearsome, let me tell you. Lots of cat and mouse, where you are very definitely the mouse.
Also the story and missions seem decent and are well acted. Oh, and it is really purdy!

It has been plain sailing for me since day 1. 22 hours in and absolutely loving it. I am now able to override quite a few of the low to mid tier machines, and setting up gangs of violent friendlies can make for some epic battles.
What I particularly like is that you are free to approach almost all fights on your own terms and tackle them as you see fit, which really works with me. Still enjoying the daft-as-balls story and it looks and sounds awesome. I particularly liked making my way through a rocky valley and having the sounds I made echo - nice attention to detail.

Just by way of update, this game is superb.
I have sunk 42 hours into it and am still working my way through the story. The non-story stuff is all fun too, whether delving the Cauldrons to enable you to convert more of the robo-dino-monsters to friendly, hunting down collectibles and vantage points, clearing nests of bandits or just hunting robo-dino-monsters the game is brilliant. I can convert almost all the nasties to friendlies now, and there is a real buzz to sneaking close enough to a huge monster and turning it, then watching the resultant chaos as it piles into the other baddies.
Your character is intelligent and believeable and the story is really intriguing too. If you haven't played this, you are doing yourself a disservice by not picking it up.

I cant believe youre making me want to start it again on PC after 100%ing it on console, even with the backlog I have

Oh man you will be so pleased then, running it on my 2080 at full chat it looks immense. Visuals second only to some of the morning/evening mist effects in RDR2, and then not by much.
