Fallout 76
Re: Fallout 76
So the massively successful and critically acclaimed industry juggernaut Fallout 76 is considered so unbelieveably popular that the game is being given a paid subscription option. For £12 a month, you can play in your own private world, without the bother of interacting with other players.

The game is just going from strength to strength. Having the option of paying £12 a month after buying a full priced game just illustrates how popular it truly is.

Re: Fallout 76
So they release a multiplayer game that you then have to pay a subscription to play single player?

Have they not run out of feet to shoot themselves through yet?
I've never known a game to continually suffer PR disaster after PR disaster a year after launch pretty much. Even Anthem is mostly just ignored rather than continuously vomiting over itself like Fallout 76.

So you're paying $100 a year to be alone in a multiplayer game.
It's not just me seeing something screwy here surely?

Re: Fallout 76
The ability to play on private servers with your friends that is meant to be the main draw. But it's a baffling price, it's not an MMO.
Re: Fallout 76
Do you think this game could grow into something similar to an MMO?

Welcome to the forum Zehner
I don't think so, it is too tainted by the mess that they have made of it all.

Re: Fallout 76
You know that Scrapbox that you get as part of this £12 a month subscription, the one that lets you store unlimited crafting materials?
It deletes everything you put in it.

Good grief.
This level of incompetence is beautiful.

You have to pay the super-premium subscription of just an additional £100 per year to not have all your possessions deleted.

Re: Fallout 76
The private servers aren't private; anyone from your friends list can join your server regardless of whether you want them to. Oh, and they're not even new instances - people are finding areas of their brand new private worlds that have already been looted.
Jim Sterling, who does like to dine out on Fallout 76 news it must be said, has probably said this best. This has to be a Producers-type scam, surely. Fallout 76 has to be Bethesda's Springtime for Hitler, right? There are a few issues cropping up here. Fallout 1st players are finding that a “newly created” world they might be heading into is not actually new at all. Players are reporting dead NPCs and looted areas when they get there, implying that these are not actually new instances, but instead re-used old instances masquerading as brand new private worlds.
The “private” aspect is up for debate too. Players with big friends lists, ie. merchants who sell players goods in the game, are finding that they can’t prevent people from joining their private servers where they just want to relax and play by themselves or with a few friends. Without some sort of “invisible” mode, other players can see your instance and join it.

And if anyone knows anything about Hitler, it's...
...Ken Livingston. Or me. Then Jim Sterling.
