S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Saiga is the one based on the AK frame, was fire in the originals. Ram is a modern, 2 at a time loading, 14 round masterpiece. Just realised, I don't think the Protecta drum mag shotty from the originals is in this version.

Gave this mod a spin last night, seems cool so far. I am using one of the Looter versions so that things aren't too spicy at all times. I can definitely see more at a distance (not perfect but better) and have had some cool firefights.ManBearSquid wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:32 pmhttps://www.nexusmods.com/stalker2heart ... escription
Might give this a go.
Still the odd AI moments, but that's par for the course just now, I guess.
Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Might give it a spin... the main thing I want to be able to do is scout out a base before going in to try and judge enemy type/strength, which isn't possible in the vanilla version due to the low spawn distance...

Oh... and also not get shot to death while minding my own business in the middle of nowhere, because a hostile squad just teleported in three feet behind me without warning

As the console version can't be modded yet this is a constant problem. Getting out of a fight with hardly any health or ammo left just to be attacked by a randomly spawning group of enemies is very frustrating. Plus they can see perfectly in the dark and have lazer like aim.

Yeah, so I approached the Sphere base I mentioned last time and the distance at which I could see someone in a tower was better, not perfect but certainly less jarring.
I've had bullets fly past me through the trees (without aimbot accuracy) and found there was a guy quite a distance away taking shots at me. We both advanced on each other and it was a cool fight. I'm also seeing more stalkers and wardens kicking around. I do struggle in this game to tell who is likely to be hostile, but that's also part of the fun in a way.
Had one strange moment when 2 guys aggro'd (still not 100% sure if it was with me or each other) only for them to just point their guns and look at me. They were promptly shotgunned to death. Let's pretend it was a stick up...

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
I was searching a house and heard 2 guys chatting outside. I stuck my shotgun out the window and dropped them both, I think they were other stalkers but you can't be too safe. I've had seemingly friendly guys suddenly agro me and start blasting with no warning. It all adds to the tension I suppose
That Sphere base was the bane of my existence. Randomly spawning enemies with much better gear and aim than me. Plus they love throwing grenades.

I've got another bug in the main quest. The first time it happened I found a walkthrough online to help me finish and then start the correct quest versions. I think that may not have helped the second bug.
Oh well. I might just start again.. or I may wait for a few more patches. Not sure now.
I am enjoying it

Don't know if you have it, but there is the UE tools mod that opens up the console, then there is a list of commands "mod" you can download for reference. There are some handy things in there, like ghost mode, for example, to noclip if NPC's are blocking doorways etc. Free cash, replacement items in a pinch, that sort of thing.
Download console from nexus, and enter this:
XSetNoClipGSC 1 3000
Where "1" or "0" is on/off
And 3000 is the speed

Yup, that's what I used to unblock the last block
I had to mark my active quest as completed and then start the correct next one (depending on who I sided with in a previous quest).
I also had to use it to get through a door to talk to someone.
Sigh. It's been great so far.
Maybe the patches would have sorted out my initial problems and hence the later ones wouldn't have broken.
It's worth a do over.

I'm sure they've written the Ai scripts to be that everyone in hiding from an emission has a no violence pact. It would seem they also included animals and mutants..

Lol, I was just getting family with Sidorovich and the cordon again, creeping up on the bandits at the old garage when I heard a boar or two approaching from behind, I was at a corner ready to commit anyway, so just ran in and up the stairs then up the ladder to the loft, and the boars took care of all of 'em for me! I love this game.
