There's stuff in there from 2003 such as the physics being tied to framerates that really shouldn't be part of a system in 2018.
There are plenty of games that have game systems tied to the framerate. It's not necessarily a bad thing in games, depends how it is implemented.

Game is around £36 on key sites which says it all about how the game is doing I think.

I'm more interested in the (god i hate it) GDPR content in this thread than anything I'm finding out about Fallout 76!

And damn our IT Director and his ideas for managing marketing preferences. It's fucking easy to store in ONE table but noooo..... let's fragment that shit and make data management hell... ](*,)

The patch that has just gone live is a whopping 47gbs on console (it's just 15gb on PC apparently).

Astounding considering the game is already 53GB.

I notice that almost nowhere has a proper review of it yet, which I suppose is understandable what with it being a massive online game. I'd like to believe that major gaming sites will hold it to account, but the cynic in me can see it getting forgiving 7/10 scores when the same game without the Fallout name would probably be condemned. The Jimpressions video makes it look like an unmitigated disaster.

Mack roasted it as well.

However the PCG review-in-progress sounded almost apologetically optimistic for many elements of the game, I as you say I expect the mainstream games media will give it an easy ride for the most part.

I really tried to get into building my camp, picking a lovely spot in the forest next to an only mildly toxic river, and built a little shack with some furniture, a power generator, a small vegetable patch and a water purifier. Just when I was starting to feel proud of my rustic homestead, the server crashed, and when I logged back in my camp was gone, as were most of the items I’d painstakingly crafted

Others have touched upon the disappearing camps, it's seems it's not a bug but just something the game thoughtfully does for you whenever you log out (you're not supposed to lose the materials though). I forget who, but one of the reviewers said when they came back someone else had camped in their spot. They waited until they logged out then passive-aggressively rebuilt their own camp there to piss off the other guy when he came back :lol:

Surely that system could have been better implemented?

Given that a large part of the game appears to be scouring the wasteland clean of every piece of junk you come across so you can build your magically-disappearing settlements, perhaps it's an artistic comment on the futility of perseverance in a post-apocalyptic landscape?

Or maybe Bethesda have simply excelled themselves in the worst possible way.
