Haven't watched a Mac vid since he made his horrible views clear.
Same, rancid little turd that he is.

He might be as appealing as a sweaty ballbag but that video was interesting. I'll be waiting for proper reviews before going anywhere near it, sounds like they've turned it into a bland cover shooter :?

Hm. With the disclaimer that I'm enjoying actually playing it (it's shinier Mafia 1 after all), I do have some reservations. I'm not a huge fan of some of the reworked character models - including Tommy and Paulie (the Don looks great, Sam is fine). Paulie probably the worst as he looks like a gargoyle and his voice is like fingernails down a blackboard annoying... not quite sure what their thinking was on this.

It generally is really nice to be playing an updated version of the game, though.

I looked at an IGN review and he says he finished it in 4 - 5 hours which can't be right, the original took me a week to finish. He did really like it though dispite some iffy shooting and bugs.

I think Paulie was based on Joe Pesci in the original, maybe they felt a need to change it.

I didn't realise they recast people.

Yeah, all new cast it looks like. They're mostly fine to good apart from Paulie, who sounds like the world's worst impression of Joe Pesci.

I don't think this can be right. I've played for 5 hours now, and have just completed the airport mission - can't remember exactly but think that's about halfway through?

It's as linear as Mafia 1 was so there hasn't been any faffing about or wandering off the beaten track, and that playtime includes beating the infamous race first time.

Just had a quick look at the review again, says it took a weekend to finish which isn't so bad I suppose. Does it still have the original theme music?

I don't believe the soundtrack is the same (I know at least one from the original that isn't in it), but it's still era-appropriate.

It's only slightly cheaper for Xbox version on CDKeys than getting it direct. Probably just buy it off Xbox store for convenience.

And finished.

In terms of length, Steam says a hair under 14 hours, but I would say about an hour of that was me pottering around in the free drive mode - where you can unlock bonus cars, find secrets etc. Not exactly a core part of the game but a neat enough addition if you just want to spend a bit more time in the world and mooching about rather than being led from point to point as in the campaign.

And fwiw I enjoyed it, didn't experience any bugs and probably the best compliment I can pay it is it seemed like how I remember Mafia 1 in my mind when I played it.
