"As a multiplayer-only experience, it's important for us to let you play Battlefield 2042 when and how you want," DICE said.

So, in multiplayer, AI soldiers are used for server-filling capabilities, "ensuring your matches remain full, no matter your location."
That could actually be a really neat little addition. It's always a problem in these large scale FPS games that after a round or two, or after being steam rolled, you end up on a team with half as many players as your opponent.

The flip side of that is if you get steamrolled and most of your team quit you'll be stuck with a team of AI bots for the next round and get utterly kerb stomped.

It should be good for learning how to fly the aircraft without fear of getting shot down almost instantly and just learning the maps.

I assume that the bots will just be replaced when people join via matchmaking though. Having a 30 relatively poorly skilled bots is probably better than being outnumbered.

Short little movie as a setup to the game. It's a bit of fluff but it's an almost photorealistic bit of fluff.
Spoiler
So it's a direct follow on from BF4 single player campaign

Oh man, I’d have thought they’d do everything to have people not remember that shite!

Ah it wasn't the worst. Didn't like having to play it 3 times to unlock the unique guns for multiplayer though.

I would actually like that if I could create a server with a squad of 4 or 5 mates and that's all that was allowed. I would happily play against skilled bots who used genuine tactics than randoms who don't.

Well fuck....

Silver linings it won't be quite as broken on release as every BF game before it.

Yeah... they are always delayed and still come out in a state. I'm holding off on this until I get a good idea of how intact it is after release. I say this as someone who actually loves BFV but didn't buy it until a couple of months after it came out.
