GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
Re: GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
The PS5 version was working more or less fine barring the odd frame drop, but I've asked for a refund nevertheless. I was quite enjoying reliving them for the nostalgia, but it doesn't sit right with me to support such plain low effort money grabbing. If Sony's refund policy team turn around and say no then I will play through them all and probably still enjoy it, but I'm a bit mad at myself for caving in the first place and paying up for them when there was quite clearly something amiss when so few details were given prior to the launch.
Re: GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
It really is lazy for the price they’re charging. I’m sticking with it for now as I’ve not encountered anything catastrophic yet and am enjoying them, but I do feel cheated for paying £55 when performance drops are frequent on performance mode on a Series X, bugs are not uncommon, button presses are sometimes unresponsive and some character models are uglier than they were 20 years ago. I don’t mind the art style overall, it’s just badly (lazily) applied in certain cases.
This could have been such an easy win for Rockstar.

the development house, Grove Street Games, make mobile games!
Rockstar wanted to save money and believed its GTA - it will sell whatever shite we put out. The classic Star Wars method of creativity.

What a mess. Didn't fancy it after seeing the trailers and not liking the character models, but this has been even worse than I thought it'd be.

Apparently the character models were redone using an algorithm or something similar which explains why they look so shitty. Need to find info if thats true.

So if you wiggle your car from side to side in GTA3, it gets bigger.

I enjoy a good physics bug in a game, but that's something special.

I've seen people saying this is the Cyberpunk 2077 of 2021, which I think is really unfair considering the size and ambition of CP, not to mention the fact for most people, particularly on PC, it was still very playable on release. I think the furore over it's bugginess was a bit OTT.

Nevertheless, the CEO abusing another firm for a shitty launch takes some vast balls.

Yeah the Cyberpunk thing comes down to the last gen versions really and some of that is on the platform holders for letting the game go through cert in the state it was.Sly Boots wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 5:28 pmI've seen people saying this is the Cyberpunk 2077 of 2021, which I think is really unfair considering the size and ambition of CP, not to mention the fact for most people, particularly on PC, it was still very playable on release. I watched the Digital Foundry video on GTA 3 and the game seems a complete mess and as they point out in the video it's probably not a great surprise that a game that was ported once then ported to mobile then ported to UE4 is a bit of a mess. Begs the question as to whether they are able to fix some of the issues.

San Andreas was patched today but I'm not exactly sure what was fixed or updated. The rain doesn't seem as bad now I think.

San Andreas got an 18Gb update yesterday (for a 20Gb game....) with a ton of bug fixes and feature updates. It only took them 3 weeks which in these days of shoddy releases is amazingly fast.
Did the infamous Big Smoke mission where you chase the train on the dirt bike in one go and it only took about 4 minutes to complete, so they fixed that at least. Your cross-hair also locks onto enemies much quicker and more accurately.
