All these years later and it still looks basic as hell with your typical terrible Ubisoft UI.

I haven't been paying this any attention as it's not something I'm interested in, but is this the one that was supposed to launch around the same time as Sea of Thieves?
I watched a bit of the gameplay demo at the end, thought it looked alright until they attempted a boarding. Great, time to leap aboard and get into a melee with the enemy crew! Exciting brawling! No. No, it's a pre-scripted animation that takes all of 5 seconds, and then you're back at the wheel.

Ugh, a really under-utilised theme for games and one I have quite an interest in, and here comes another pustulent testicle from Ubisoft. Pirates! was a great little game, my brother and I sunk countless hours into it on the C64 and then Amiga, and I own it on PC too. AssCreed Black Flag was a good game, but since then there has just been Sea of Thieves which I bounced clean off, now this.
Looks like a by-the-numbers Ubi title which can be a stagnant formula (I have played a lot of Ubi titles and some - Wildlands, Breakpoint, Splinter Cell - are some of my all time favourites, but the law of diminishing returns on their desperation not to break the mould is really biting now) , plus add in adversarial play and you have a no from me.

It'll be funny when Ubisoft start complaining about people pirating their pirate themed game.
Yeah it's very by the numbers looking and not something I'd be interested in.

Particularly shit is that you seem to be playing the ship rather than a pirate - at 31 mins in that video is an incredibly fucking stupid view of what appears to be a ship cutting down a tree...
Ubi, the only firm who go out of their way to make shit out of diamonds!

Yeah, making the ship the player character and not the captain is... a choice.

You can customise your captain and you are playing as them, you are not playing as the ship so to speak. You don't go onto land to gather resources so the ship kind of does it in the weird way shown in the video.

No amount of delays are going to change the fact that the player feedback was that it's a badly designed game. Ten years in the making by the time it comes out and that's really the best they could come up with.

I play tested this and it was dreadful. Like runescape on a boat. But worse.

Does anyone possibly want a Skull & Bones Closed Beta key at all?
Wong thread, Dave.

Apparently this "AAAA" game is out after 11 years in development and it's mediocre at best. Safe to presume no one gives a shit about it here?

Not one single gram of fuck from what I can tell. It never did sound interesting and from the sounds of things is as by the numbers as it gets, plagued with loads of issues and less fun than AssCreed Black Flag which is an old game now.
It was such an open goal too, if they had only thought of what would make a fun engaging pirate game without immediately looking at how to monetise it to the Nth degree. They should take a long look at Helldivers as a live service game. Sure a few launch wobbles but quickly ironed out, premium content that you can buy or just not bother, simply earn premium currency in the game, save it for a while till you have enough, then buy the expansion content in-game for no money. And look how it is doing, we can't stop bloody playing. Ubi you need to have a word with yourselves, only you won't.
