I don't usually pick up Civ games, I don't really have the patience for them. I kinda like who they've chosen for the narrator though; she's no Sean Bean or Leonard Nimoy, but she's got a great voice for this.

Saw this on pre-order yesterday and was sufficiently piqued, it has been long enough since I last played one that I might be tempted...wonder how it plays late game, I have memories of chugginess, but it being worth the effort.

Last Civ I bought/played was 5, the last one felt like it would be kinda samey to play so I've not really felt the urge to pick it up. If this is sufficiently different I could be persuaded at some point though.

6 is probably one of my favourite entries alongside 4, a combination of the two would have been perfect. They added a district system into 6 where you have to plan your city development as you place extra zones onto tiles around it so the city wasn't just stacked onto a single tile like all the previous entries. It added so much to the game mechanics and worked really well. 6 was just missing the vassal system from 4 and had pretty poor AI and diplomacy. It's been our gaming group's main time sink since it came out so we've clocked hundreds of hours on it now.

Excited to see how everything has been innovated on in 7.

I like the look of a lot of the new systems for 7 and I think the art style looks gorgeous, £60 is a bit too steep of a price for me personally though.

Yeah, I tend to wait to buy a Civ until it's dirt-cheap, always been the type of game I'll play obsessively for about a week and then get sick of and never play again

I have never really been bitten by the Civ bug. Used to watch a mate of mine play it obsessively (the original) back in the day, he would smoke weed and conquer for hours at a time but it never grabbed me.

I always liked the concept, but then along came Total War, in particular Medieval, and that scratched the itch for me in a way Civ never could.
