Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 - out now (nearly)

The first game in a long time I actually preordered, and currently in the process of pre-loading ahead of its launch this afternoon. Can't wait to get stuck into this, really enjoyed the first game despite a few foibles, and it sounds like this is very much a continuation of that while refining some of the rougher elements (like the combat).

Anyone else diving in?

Absolutely, in fact I recently finished a replay of the original to refresh my memory of how it ended (plus there were a couple of DLCs it turns out I'd missed before). It remains a slightly janky masterpiece in my eyes.

As you say, reviews seem to suggest the sequel is a refinement rather than anything drastically different, which suits me just fine!

I considered doing that, but didn't quite get round to it, the sheer size of the game put me off a little bit as still trying to finish up Stalker 2!

Looks like someone's already created a mod to save at any time, before the game's even released.

I tried playing the original as intended for a while, but it's infinitely better to be able to save whenever you want.

I'll definitely be using that, if sudden death is as common as it was in the first game!

I played the first game, made it through the prologue, escaped the village and made to the castle. Thought it was really good and never picked it up again, which is a shame as I'm guessing it's great once you get the hang of it.

It's worth sticking with it until the main questline gives you a bit of leeway, because the game really opens up then. It's one of the most well-realised, detailed game worlds I've ever experienced, full of fun systems, and there are loads of ways to approach quests (and cock them up, which the game is more than happy to let happen).

I cancelled my CIv VII pre-order after seeing the reviews, I knew it would come in hot but looks like it is rougher than I thought it would be. I might pick this up instead. Didn't play the first game but the stuff I have seen about how this is a major improvement and basically a medieval version of Morrowind in many respects sounds like my cup of tea.

I think I got a 1/4 of the way through the first (Train Hard Fight Easy I think) and never finished it, might be time to revisit that world, because I remember it being brilliant.

Didn't realise it was so close to releasing. Bought the Gold package with extra DLCs when they come out.
The first one was (is) one of favourite games ever. It just exudes immersion. I actually enjoy walking/riding everywhere.

So... yeah, it's already great fun :)

Runs like a dream too, I have far from a top-of-the-line machine and it runs like silk at a pretty much solid 60fps at high settings

Yep, enjoyed the first hour! I'm amazed how much they've improved the performance of the engine, though I'm yet to enter a town or anything, which is where the original had major issues.

Have you tried this yet? I can't seem to get it to work :(

Update: I found a link to this Nexus mod that does the same thing on the Steam forum, it may even be the same guy who made the other one, but I've managed to get this one working:

You still can't save from the main menu, so he's added the ability to quicksave using F5 - confirmed that this does indeed work! :D

Yeah, I couldn’t get the first one to work but also found the other one and have it working! Relieved, as I’ve already had an instance where I accidentally got into a 3 v 1 scrap and lost 20 minutes when I had to reload.
