Does this thread (and/or the Steam group) have anything to do with why I received a 25%-off coupon for a game I've never heard of until today?

It sounds like it may be if you own one of their previous games already.

I'm pretty sure I don't own any of their other games and I've received the code too.

Are they transferable? If so, someone can have mine if they want - it looks like a good game, but I've got expenses to cover when I move in six weeks, so I can't justify buying the game anytime soon.

I think my biggest issue with this is going to be the energy system - not necessarily that it has one, but that it runs down so fast. You can barely chop and tree and clear a couple of dead shrubs and you go from full to empty. I don't know if there's a way to increase your amount of energy in-game (cooking food seems pointless as collecting ingredients and cooking them both use energy so there doesn't seem to be a net gain), but they'd be better off ditching it entirely. I wonder if there's a way to mod the energy value to give you more?

Hm, this is a mod that was created for the alpha but seems to still be working with the release version - among a few QoL changes it makes it so the player regens energy when standing still, and slows the (very quick by default) day-night cycle a little:

I might give that a try.

That energy system sounds irritating just hearing about it.

Yeah, it is a bit.

The good news is the mod works (it also adds a sprint feature so you can get between places a bit quicker), but the energy charge is slooow and you have to be standing still, so to be quite honest you're probably better off going to bed to recharge anyway.

Not a perfect solution, then. :(

I did notice that the energy sapped a lot quicker than is does in Stardew. It might be that you are supposed to do less stuff in a day than you are in Stardew.

EDIT: I think I'm going to refund it. It didn't really pop with me, plus it's been added to Game Pass so if I really want to play it I can do so on the Xbox.

That's a shame, I've been quite getting into it. Have been tidying up my cemetery, unlocked the church where I can research stuff, unlocked a bunch of technologies so I can craft a bunch of my own stuff and started my own farm.

I'm going to install it on Xbox and give it another go later.

No 21:9 support = no purchase, even with a 25% discount voucher.

Shame.

Quick word on energy... when you unlock the next tier of tools (ie the first ones you can craft to replace the rusty set you're given) it doubles the amount of work you're able to do with them. Since crafting my iron pickaxe mining stone has become a doddle.

Also the flowers you can pick as you walk about (which seem to regrow daily) can also be consumed for a small energy bonus if you're in a bind energy-wise.

Oh it works fine bud. Just select your res then exit the game then load back in as otherwise you are left with weird glitching at the far sides of the screen. 2560x1080 21:9 here :)

But I would hold off on buying it as it still contains a lot of weird issues. Being able to trap yourself with no way out. Really confusing at times in how to go about making something as it's not straight forward. Weird stuttering when moving around at times.
Mr Annoyed and Proud of it.
