HITMAN 2 [PC, PS4, XBone] - 13th of November
HITMAN HITMAN HITMAN HITMAN.

I'm still skeptical about these games. I've seen a few Silent Assassin run throughs that seriously wouldn't be be good enough on the older games to obtain the top rank. I used to enjoy how difficult it was to execute the perfect run through a level, but it seems the new installment is very forgiving when it comes to how aggressive you are.

Totally recommend the last one mate. Professional difficulty is definitely fairly unforgiving: cameras alert guards about suspicious behaviour rather than just logging that you've been spotted, disguises become useless if you kill the person violently, and the AI is generally more alert about your actions.
Even in standard mode I have been having immense fun with the game, there is just so much replay value, and it can still be tricky to pull off the perfect mission if you don't really know what you're doing.

+1
I bought the full season on a special day way after they were released, and very much enjoyed it. If anything the maps are perhaps too sprawling and varied, as a couple can be quite overwhelming at first compared with something like Blood Money. But it's a very well made game.
I don't think the episodic release did them any favours though.

The new one is being released episodically too, isn't it?
I think perhaps I just hold Blood Money in too high esteem, I seriously rate that game.

Oh, it's still the better game.
But the last one wasn't too far off.

I tried to like the new Hitman, but it just doesn't click with me. Not sure what it is really.

Nah, the upcoming one won't be an episodic release as far as I'm aware.
Honestly, and I do love Blood Money, I think that it's currently the best that the series has ever been. There are some niggles, sure, but it's such a great feeling Hitman game that I really do love it. I tend to scope a level out for some time during my first run and then just try and complete it in any which way that I can, then I move on to more planned assassinations, followed by a SA run before I move on to the next level. I just find it all very satisfying.

I've tried playing any number of these and i just don't click with them at all. This is funny because I enjoy playing as stealthy characters in many other games...fallout, Deus Ex, Skyrim et al.

Blood Money and Contracts were both sublime games.
The last Hitman I held off on due to the episodic release, and ended up bagging it in a sale when almost all the maps were already released. I did enjoy it, but the overly huge maps were a put-off for me because I wasn't able to work out ways of killing all the targets in true hitman fashion, instead just popping out of cupboards and garrotting them on occasion.
And I missed the little newspaper at the end - that made you work so much harder to get a SA rating.
I still haven't finished it. I completed the mission where you end up going down a cliffside path and into a chemical weapons lab where you have to fuck up the weapons production, and that whole section was so hit and hope I think it sucked the life from me game-wise. That said, I am a serial non-completer of games - I really should go back to it.

Re: HITMAN 2 [PC, PS4, XBone] - 13th of November
Why are they calling it Hitman 2? The only TRUE Hitman 2 is Silent Assassin (my favourite game in the series).
Was there a total reboot somewhere down the line?

I assume it isn’t anyway since the one before that had you murder Diana and in the last one Diana’s back. Unless it was a fake out, never finished that one.
