Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (single-player Gwent RPG)

CDPR has announced that they're producing a fully single-player version of Gwent, the card-game introduced in Witcher 3, apparently built around a 30-hour RPG-style story.

The action will mostly be Gwent I suspect, but seeing as I bloody loved Gwent but had no interest in playing an online multiplayer version, this has tickled my interest:

Has a store page on GOG already:

Loved Gwent also. Not sure I am into it as a standalone thing though. Maybe on a tablet sort of thing.

I'd be more into a single player Gwent thing than the online game they have at the moment. Which I want to love btw, but despite my best efforts I just cant get in to it.

Indeed.

I just cant get over the name though. Thronebreaker. Sounds like a euphemism for a particularly large and unwieldy stool that might prove troublesome for the plumbing.

Reminds me of the time we were sharing a caravan for a family holiday, and a mate tagged along for one night as we were visiting an old school friend who lived up the road. The first night he got food poisoning. What followed was quite harrowing for all concerned, not least when we found he'd destroyed the toilet seat in the en suite bathroom.

Harrowing sounds about right. Especially with those paper thin caravan walls!

I feel for you.

After watching Ken Burn's recent Vietnam doc those guys had it comparatively easy compared to what you must have had to endure.

Where's your parade?!

There's an impressions piece on PCG as well. I've not had a chance yet to read it, but here 'tis:

I'm not sure if it had a price already, but it does now, £23.40 and released on October 23rd:

I read the PCG impressions piece and it sounds great, a lot meatier than was expected and probably more than they really needed to make it - CDPR once again going above and beyond.

Tempted to pre-order. It's a little pricier than I generally pay these days but will have to see how my finances are doing in a week or two.
