I've got someone in the training booth to get up to speed, but does anyone else fancy taking on that mantle once they're out? Maturin? Wrathbone?
Sorry, didn't see this. Really snowed under lately.

Sure, sign me up if there's an extra space going. :)

Awesome :D

That's great timing as I'll be getting my new specialist up and running imminently. Not in time for the next couple of entries (I've got a slight backlog already, but I'm happy with that as it should mean being able to post something every day for a little while at least).

And on that note, new entry :o

It's just a short one. I'm going to keep alternating in and out-of-mission entries I think to keep things ticking along at a decent pace while not allowing individual entries to grow too monstrous in size.

We should be ok if we can hold out another few days before anything else happens.

Oh ffs.
That's also XCom, baby!

The one bad thing I had to say about War of the Chosen was the sheer amount of things that interrupt what you're trying to do on the strategic layer. There is *so* much stuff being thrown at you, even early on. It's not *really* a bad thing, given that the real meat of the gameplay is in the tactical play, but it feels just a little too oppressive sometimes.

I think that's certainly true early on when it's introducing all the new elements, alongside the base game elements being introduced. If you were a totally new player using the expansion as your first XCOM2 experience I think it would be quite overwhelming.

I think it does settle down a bit over time, though.

Currently trying to work out how I took 77 screenshots in the subsequent mission, and how many is reasonable to caption and present for people to read...

Hey Raid, as you've started a new campaign, just thought I'd mention that I've just seen the Reinforcements Pack containing a bunch of chunky DLC, new missions, equipment and the like, for only £4 on CDkeys.com. It usually sells for £16 on Steam, just picked it up myself:

Yeah, I think I picked that up either just prior to WotC when it was on sale or my version of WotC came with it or something. I know I never actually played it before WotC came out, but I watched my partner play through the Shen's Last Gift mission. It was hilarious that the first time an alien ruler showed up, was also the first time I fought the Chosen Hunter. It was *brutal*. At the time I didn't realise the rulers react to everything you do during your own turn. I think I lost two mid-rank soldiers and everyone else was on death's door.

I gave the recent Legacy pack missions a go last night. I love the "arcade", score-attack nature of them. I didn't finish them, I managed to get Central killed on the third mission, but I'll definitely be having another go later.

Yikes!

Uh, good luck guys, I guess ¬_¬

Yeah, have done three of the four Legacy campaigns now, I think the second and third were my favourites - the narrative of the second is hilarious in places, and playing as Shen for the third campaign was a nice change. I haven't managed Gold on any of them yet playing on the middle difficulty setting (the one down from Nightmare), and not sure if it's actually possible for the first two with anything less than a flawless run. I would have done it on the Shen campaign, but on the alien's very last turn a cybersphere thingy launched a massive aoe psi attack that damaged four of my guys at once. Lost 4,000 points and missed out on gold by 2.4k. :(

Oh. It's way more substantial than I thought; I thought it was just four missions with Bradford. I didn't realise the ones that are greyed out are sets of missions rather than the individual missions themselves. That's really cool, especially given that it was free. In my defense I was playing it fairly late last night, and the medication I'm on makes me drowsy. ¬_¬

Yeah for a freebie it's a very generous addition, hours of gameplay really if you think each mission is roughly 30 minutes - that's about 14 hours for the four campaigns. I doubt I'll fiddle with the custom maps part or the mini challenges element, but even if so I'm very happy it's there.

I won't lie, it was definitely brown trousers time in this mission at various points.
