I was sure we had a thread on Nightdive Studios remake of system Shock but anyways.

Here is the medical level that was revealed at GDC recently

They'll need to sort out the performance issues, but otherwise that's looking pretty good. I've never actually played the original, but I watched my brother play through it as a kid. It's a game that I've always wanted to have played, but the controls and interface are *so* dated that I didn't think I'd get much enjoyment from it.

It does appear they're deliberately changing the atmosphere of the game though, going for much more of a horror vibe than the original, and I'm not sure how that'll sit with fans of the original. For reference, this was the original backing music for the first level; at around the 45s mark it starts getting a bit more action-gamey.

Good lord. I've not heard that music in 25 years but it was immediately familiar.

They've reupdated the demo on steam a little while back if you fancy seeing it for yourself :)

Jesus, your on point with the trailers there mate. So they're basically remastering everything from the late 90's early 2000's. I'm definitely up for that.

Gibs? Gibs?! It's gibs damnit!

Is shouting about your corpse dismemberment system really that important in 2020? It might have been novel in Soldier of Fortune, but that was nineteen years ago. I don't have any particular issue with it, but unless it adds anything to gameplay it's no different to talking about the detailed wall textures.

Regardless, I'm liking the look of this remake. It does look somewhat cheap still, but compared to the original it looks like Doom Eternal.

Yep it seems so doesn't it :D. Now waiting to see what else in the coming months will be added to the line. Nightdive seems to be on a role with the classics and have done stellar work so far in Turok, Blood etc. so I wouldn't mind some SoF 1+2, Citizens: Giant Kabuto, MDK, Messiah and such too.

I'm 50/50 on it myself.

Have we really had anything push the old soldiers of fortune envelope at all though? That Mortal Kombat tech needs to make it’s way into a new SoF :-k
