It's just a bad film in a long string of bad Ridley Scott films. Bloom is utterly miscast and no doubt felt like a dipshit reading his lines, but I felt like most of the other cast were pretty good. Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson and David Thewlis are all great as the jaded knights. The scale of the film is also very impressive but it was just so utterly dull.

He made this not long after Blackhawk Down which I love.

I'm pretty sure the king in question at the time who had leprosy is meant to be a French one, so she technically isn't an actual Middle-Eastern character, she's his sister I believe so her appearance fits in with it.
It's less her genealogy I have issue with and more the fact that she's as pale as snow. She certainly doesn't look like she's spent any time in the desert.

I mentioned it in another thread recently, but the director's cut transforms the film. I think it's really good personally.

No film is perfect, but compared to almost all of Scott's other films over the last 20 years, this one really holds up I thought. I don't really understand how/why he allowed the theatrical version to come to pass.

Perhaps the director's cut is better, but it's apparently 45 minutes longer, and the version I watched is already two and a half hours long.

Solo A Star Wars Story

Added nothing to the canon, if anything it took away a lot of the mystique. Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37 was fucking embarrassing.

5/10

Copshop
Fun if a bit slow to get going and could have been 10 minutes shorter. A guy gets himself arrested to stay out of sight in a local jail then hitmen start showing up. Has that film trope where all small town American police stations are huge with way more cops than would be needed.

Venom 2
Enjoyable nonsense for the most part and about as violent as something can be without really showing any. Venom's interactions with people is very funny in places. Work a look if you enjoyed the first one.

Boss Level (Amazon)

I'm a big fan of timeloop sci-fi, but this falls a little short of the mark. It never really plays with the concept all that much. It's a competent film for the most part, I quite like Frank Grillo's performance, and there's enjoyment to be had, but there are a few effects shots that genuinely wouldn't look out of place on the Michael Bay Gifs subreddit. Look at the smoke effects in this one, I'm pretty sure those exact effects are used.

I think the most confusing aspect though is one of theming, and I get the impression that the film was changed half-way through development.
Spoiler
The film is called "Boss Level", and the film opens with a 16-bit character select screen. So the main character is a videogame protagonist right? No. Those things are never referenced again, the only videogame references that happen afterwards involve the protagonist's son being a fan of Street Fighter. The actual time looping is caused by a science experiment. It was released last year, along with the (delayed) Free Guy, and I just wonder if they didn't want to appear to be copying the concept.

Enjoyed Boss Level as well, silly fun.

So I went to see The Batman but unfortunately had to leave midway through as I started feeling unwell. Absolutely gutted as I was really enjoying it. Cinema was packed and really hot, thought I was going to pass out at one stage. From what I did see it's definitely up there with the best Batman films. Fuck :(

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Finally saw this and honestly, it did little for me. Yes it was great to see so much insane yet borderline cringey three-way fan service on the big screen, interestingly however it felt like a Spider-Man movie with which the Peter Parker coin flip was the biggest pull not the web head. For the first time I do believe ever I felt like I saw Tom Hollands acting ability shine, not just relying on annoyingly rampant random shouty deliveries. Was I the only one who felt the villains were stupefied? Their handling did not sit right with me at all I have to say. Doctor Stranges actions became highly questionable too.

Surprisingly solid Peter Parker film pretty sure I even felt real emotion at one point, overall though it was a mediocre Spider-Man movie. Weakest of all three for me left the showing feeling pretty dejected in all honesty given all the high tier hype.
Building the future, and keeping the past alive - are one and the same thing.

I loved it. I thought it was the best "nostagia" film to come in the last 10 years. Then again, my expectations were pretty rock bottom but it was great to see so many old faces with a half decent script.

The Batman
Probably the 2nd best Batman movie made so far, it's really very good. Very dark in theme and visuals, its Nolan's films crossed with The Joker and Seven but doing it's own thing. Always raining and perpetually gloomy. At almost 3 hours long it manages to move along at a good pace and I was never bored.

Thankfully it starts with Batman as an established character in Gotham so we don't have to redo his entire origin again. All round the acting is great and Pattinson fills the role very well I think. Colin Farrell is utterly unrecognizable as Penguin and is great to watch. The new Batmobile is menacing as fuck and it's introduction is the best thing ever! My one complaint is the frequent shining of torches and headlights directly into the camera, it actually starts to get irritating it happens that often. But overall it's excellent, go see.

This was my 2nd attempt to see it. First time I was hungover, dehydrated, tired and stuck in a very hot room with over 100 maskless people for the first time in 2 years. It broke my brain and I felt sick and had to leave. Thankfully 2nd time went smoothly.
