Also once I realized that the main character looked like a mix of Dustin from Stranger Things and Dexter Fletcher I couldn't take her seriously anymore.

That seems like a big complaint until you have seen Pinhead in Hellraiser 9.

The Other Guys

The many mentions of this lead me to believe that it would be a hilarious good time buddy comedy, truth is I thought it was about as low effort as can be and had me bored shitless for practically the entire duration. Where is the funny at? I can wait I thought, then it ended. Quite the achievement. Will Ferrell has made some of my favourite comedies and Mark Wahlberg's comedic timing shines brightly in the likes of say Ted, so I was at least half expectant of a good few belly laughs here and there - give me something please, I beg you. Nothing. So yes, I don't really understand any of the praise this movie is given and thought it was thoroughly mediocre.

I can't think of a single good Will Ferrell film. I've seen a fair few, including Anchorman, and they all seem like a way for Ferrell to twat about "improvising" in front of a camera for 90 mins. Bleh.

Even his cameos in stuff grate.

Yep. Not a Ferrell fan. I tolerate him in some things, but I generally avoid most films where he's prominent.

I agree, he's a bellend in most things but I actually really like Step Brothers and The Other Guys. Go figure!

I also liked the Other Guys, and Blades of Glory is a bit of a guilty pleasure.

I remember quite enjoying The Other Guys, but I really don't remember much of it. I'm not generally a Will Ferrell (nor really any of his Anchorman compatriots) fan.

Yep, I felt the Other Guys was really decent. Packed full of great scenes and Wahlberg works surprisingly well.

Infinitely prefer him in this than any of those po-faced serious films he's in. Ferrel plays a bit of a plain character, apart from the pimp flashback, but maybe that's actually a good thing.

The part where the two rockstar action hero cops jump off the roof to their deaths is worth the price of admission alone
