Watched the final episodes of Cobra Kai. Egregious fan service, plot holes all over the place - loved every minute of it.

It passed its best-before date as a series a while ago, but god it's fun to watch.

Silo S1&2
Its good! A lot of logic farts, massive coincidences and silly plot points but its good, compelling and morish. I felt there was a feeling of tension that other shows lack, when Juliet gets in trouble I did feel tense and I can't put my finger on why but it works. The end of season 2 was shite though.

Farscape

Y'know, I don't think sci-fi has ever been as much frelling fun. I love Star Trek, I love Stargate, I love Galactica and I love The Expanse, but in terms of pure entertainment they're all sacks of dren. I don't know what the yotz the writers of Farscape were smoking, but the series is completely fahrbot and gives even Stargate a swift kick to the mivonks when it comes to its sense of humour.

So yeah, this holds up *really* well. It's *such* a product of the early 2000s; everyone wears leather, and the primary antagonist looks like a BDSM enthusiast with a saliva fetish because I guess that was considered "edgy", but it's carried by a great cast, some outstanding puppets, and just the weirdest energy that I really don't think its contemporaries can muster. It never derides itself; O'Neill would constantly make silly quips about how ridiculous the situation is, it never takes itself seriously, but Crichton leans into it so fervently that you can't help but be swept along with it. And Aeryn and Crichton just have so much charisma together, that it's no wonder Black and Browder got picked up for SG1. Go into it expecting it to be corny, maybe a little clumsy in its production and occasionally even a little incomprehensible, but it's an absolutely wild ride.

I do remember screaming at the TV when the series ended back in 2002, given that it was cancelled on the back of a cliffhanger, but Peacekeeper Wars is a great ending. It shares a lot in common tonally with how Firefly ended with Serenity, but PKW is a much more satisfying conclusion.

It's the draddest.

Seconded, was very weird but felt more adult than any other sci fi at the time.
I had to google her name but I thought Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan (the blue one) was pretty hot and got naked a lot :)

With the exception of seeing her back a couple of times, it's all implied with Zhaan. It's a real shame the actress left the show, particularly as she's replaced by Jool who is absolutely awful initially (she's introduced as basically a gap-year student whose defining character trait is a high-pitched scream). Apparently all of the makeup and prosthetics Virginia Hey had to wear gave her significant health problems, and she hated having to shave her head. She does make a reappearance later in the series, but she's wearing a very obvious bald cap that looks terrible, so that was evidently necessary.

I started watching it after I finished the Stargate series but just found it so bloody frustrating to find episodes that were in either the right order or didn't have the last 10 minutes missing. I enjoyed what I watched, obviously very silly but taking itself (somewhat) seriously. I'm guessing the people behind Mass Effect watched it at some point, they just added head tentacles to their sexed up blue alien lady.

I enjoyed the first couple of seasons, but my interest kind of fell off after that and I don't know if I ever finished it. I think I also just found the BDSM-fetish villain a bit too unpleasant to watch.

That's a shame. Scorpius is a fantastic antagonist, but I agree he's a bit... unusual.

That pretty much matches my thoughts exactly. It never managed to recapture the highs of the first two years. I still think it should have ended by about season 3, just with a finale similar to what we got with season 6. I think it did return to form at least a little in those final few episodes.

Yellowjackets (5eps in)

We just started this and it’s like Lost with some black humour and the flash forwards happen right away :p Varsity(?) female soccer team have their plane crash in some forest and have to fend for themselves. It jumps between them as teens to them as adults and the repercussions it has. The cast is excellent, particularly Christina Ricci, love her in this! Really enjoying it so far.

The Expanse
I was racing to finish season 3 before Amazon took it off their prime sub but I missed the last 2 eps  If only there were some other way to acquire it :-k
It’s good, I don’t love it as much as others seem to but it’s good. Reminds me in some ways of Space: Above And Beyond which I refuse to rewatch because I already know it’s perfect and time hasn’t been unkind to it at all (damn chigs!).

Also, and this is a minor gripe but I don’t like wet eyed actors. Holden always looks like he’s crying, it was the same with the wet eyed lead in Shogun. It’s like they constantly have dust in their eyes and for some reason it bothers me!

Edit: scratch that, it now says Expanse S3 is expiring in 6 days… weird but yay.

Space: Above & Beyond has held up for something made in the mid 90's. I rewatched it a year or so ago and was pleasantly surprised. The cgi is still shit but it was called out for being shit in 1995. There's a guy on YouTube whose remastered all the episodes..

Life on Mars
A friend was watching it for the first time recently and loved it so I was interested to see how it held up. Still very enjoyable and well made. You can tell they were limited to what they could do but it looks like the 1970's, bad hair, everyone is smoking (and drinking), sexist and casually racist.
Found it funny that if it was set today he'd have woken up in 1992 during the Madchester era.

Paradise

No idea where it's streaming as I got it elsewhere...
Fun, thriller with a certain sci fi twist.
Lots of toing and froing in the timeline but nothing brain hurty.

I think the last episode of this season has just come out and I've not watched it yet but I haven't been this keen to watch a series for a while.
