"Filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti (who made the successful big-screen adaptations It and It: Chapter Two) and Jason Fuchs (It: Chapter Two) are on board the project from Warner Bros. Television. Andy Muschietti will direct multiple episodes of the series, including the first episode. The show’s working title is Welcome to Derry."
I'm sure a prequel to that massive pile of shit made by those who laid said massive pile of shit will be wonderful!

I'm astonished it managed to get 5 seasons. Even the kids' show had a more believable sense of drama. I'm willing to put up with a lot of crap to watch something from a franchise I enjoy, and even I gave up on it after the third season (although that's partially down to it then moving to a service I wasn't willing to pay for).

I read Wil Wheatons book and he does say Picard and Discovery are his fav trek since TNG.

I'm not going to suggest that people shouldn't be fans of Discovery and Picard, I just think it's difficult to be a fan of them when you were a big fan of the older stuff. The styles are just too different. Picard (at least the first couple of seasons) felt like a bad parody they'd somehow roped Patrick Stewart and Jeri Ryan into. Discovery felt like a high-school drama written by a ten year old who'd maybe watched a couple of first-season TNG episodes.
I'm still reserving judgement on Picard S3 because I still haven't found myself hating it after two episodes (although the big reveal at the end of episode 2 means it's likely I will). They have a chance to restore some of the show's dignity. For those who've not watched it, I present this as reason for my resentment:

That episode pretty much killed my interest in Picard as a series
I may come straight back into S3 though if it continues to get favourable reviews.

Yeah, as we all know, TNG had no campy bits at all!
