Star Trek Discovery
Everything in the universe no matter how big or small directly relates to Michael. Every other character is just her props and foils. It’s such lazy cliched writing. It’s an enjoyable watch but the missed potential with this is irritating.

I gave up watching the first season about half way through, then came back to it months later (actually a year later, I think!) and kinda enjoyed it. Then I started season 2 back in January this year, and after only one episode I lost ALL interest. Now I'm completely over Star Trek.
"Kingdoms and empires pass away like mist from the sea; the people shout and triumph and even in the revelry of Belshazzar's feast, the Medes break the gates of Babylon."

This was my experience with the first season - in fact I thought the second half was far superior to the first (which had dragged in places) and I binged the rest over the course of about three nights.
I've not watched the second season yet, but I suspect my experience with that will be similar to yours once again, going by what I've read.

How do you restrain the urge to punch things whenever you see Seth’s face?

because for all the annoyingness of it, the show is still remarkably entertaining!

I must admit I'm getting a bit weary of the overly-dramatic presentation. Star Trek in its 90s heyday was slow-paced and thoughtful, but Discovery just doesn't take any time to do anything - it's all shaking camera shots and sparks and explosions and people shouting at one another. It's
impatient. I think the performance of Sonequa Martin Green is a perfect demonstration; her delivery is completely wrong for the character she's supposed to be portraying. She's been brought up in an environment dominated by Vulcan logic and and a lack of emotion, but everything she says is overtly emotional - her backstory doesn't really seem to make sense.

Some of the gags from The Orville fall flat as they're just plain childish and not clever. But on the whoile it's a better Star Trek than Star Trek.

I've only watched season 1, but I really enjoyed it. Not seen any of the new Trek yet for comparison, but I don't think they're really aiming for entirely same audience.
