The Gamers Arms

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has become my latest obsession. Like a lot of US comedy shows it gets funnier the more you watch and get into the characters. For all the high-jinks going on, the deadpan captain is probably the best part.

Yeah, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has largely been fantastic. I felt it took a bit of a dip in season four (where it occasionally felt like people, particularly Holt, were acting quite out of character if it suited the plot), but five was a return to form and actually had me tearing up on occasion.

I'm only a half-dozen or so episodes into season two so can't comment on that, very much enjoying it so far, though.

I only really started watching it after seeing The Good place. I liked the humour in that and hoped B99 was the same. Liking it so far

Loved B99 but think I stopped watching about end of season 4.

Narcos season 1 - 3

Fucking brilliant - all of it. Season 3 is just amazing. S3E9 is probably one of the best episodes of TV I have ever watched outside some episodes from Gomorrah. A lot of it was serialized but that fact that it is all based on actual true events is just amazing. The use of TV footage that showed the real people spliced with the actors is just genius.

This is beyond good TV. This is sublime TV.

I cannot wait for this. I hope they've learnt from all the missteps in season 2 and got at least someway back towards the awesomeness of season 1.

Dead To Me
Binged that pretty quick. Liked it a lot. I mean it’s kind of a standard twist filled post Desperate Housewives joint but it’s good at what it does and the acting is great.


Chernobyl
This is great in a “you can’t be serious!?!?” Kind of way. It’s a tragic farce.

Chernobyl - Watched the first couple of episodes of this tonight.

I know a fair bit about the Chernobyl accident and the surrounding events. I have a morbid fascination with atomic history, and so I've done a fair amount of reading on the topic. This series treats the incident with exactly the right amount of dread that someone with prior knowledge might expect. It's like a horror film if the monster were real. The understated soundtrack is phenomenal at creating the correct atmosphere, and it's very well acted.

Just maybe don't sit down to watch it with dinner, as we did.

I am so looking forward to seeing Chernobyl. I want the entire thing out and I will marathon it in 2 sittings. Like you Raid I am too fascinating by this kind of history. Cold war fascinates me.

I'm so unsure about this. The original movie is one of my all time favourites. It really freaked me out as a kid and even now when I rewatch it still has this whole weird dreamlike feeling.
