Agree with that score mate, I genuinely caught myself thinking it was Tom Hardy more than once.Animalmother wrote: โTue Sep 11, 2018 9:32 pmUpgrade
So I finally got to see this in the one cinema that was showing it. It's pretty good but not as great as some of the reviews are making it out to be. Very well made, great acting from the main guy (not Tom Hardy) and some brutal kills done with practical effects. Just a bit of a weak story and some limp bad guys. Some very creative use of camera angles and lighting raise it above the average mid buget film. Some nice Deus Ex style music as well.
7/10 for the obvious fun they had with it and the originality of it all.

He was very good in it though, being able to do all the fights with that "I have no idea what's happening!!!" look on his face is great

The Predator
Wow!
Just...... wow.
The worst movie to feature a predator. In feel this is 1000% AvP3.
And the end. Wow..... Now I love Guyver Dark Hero as much as anyone but..... no, just no.
Itโs dumb, bad CG (the bit at the start with the opening eyes!), rubbish story, overblown character traits because it seems thatโs the only way people can remember anyone and why multiple people think itโs a good idea to hug the pred is beyond me. What makes Shane black a good choice for this other than he was in the original? He sure doesnโt have anything remotely like what a Pred film should be in his filmography.
AvP3 by way of suicide squad.
Pile of pish.
Iโm annoyed at myself for being so annoyed.

Sadly this was an obvious outcome after that first trailer, one of the worst I've seen.

What's wrong with Shane Black? Nice Guys was really good and Iron Man 3 was decent.
Re: I Just Watched (Films)
I watched Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom with a friend this evening and I regret my poor life choice.
What a mess of a shitty film. The first JW wasn't exactly a masterpiece, but it was fun enough. This was just dire.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
I didnt like Nice Guys much but KKBB is a favourite of mine. Even if all his movies were gold his style is just away in the wrong direction. Especially where thereโs countless other writer directors that would have been a better pick.Animalmother wrote: โFri Sep 14, 2018 11:13 pmNice Guys is genuinely good, but Iron Man 3 is ball hang.DjchunKfunK wrote: โFri Sep 14, 2018 7:40 pmWhat's wrong with Shane Black? Yeah, I went to the cinema to see it and I have to admit, I was hoping for better.

Mute
Does anyone remember Moon from 2009, starring Sam Rockwell as a lone mining operative on the moon? Mute is another film from the same director, set in the same universe, though not a sequel. It does feature a minor (and very unsatisfactory) cameo of Sam Rockwell's character. It's set in a future Berlin, which resembles the neon-lit Los Angeles from Blade Runner.
Here's the premise:
An Amish kid has an accident where his vocal chords are damaged. He can be surgically healed, but his family choose not to on his behalf because of their anti-technology convictions. So he grows up mute. Despite living in the hi-tech urban sprawl of future Berlin, he still has slightly backward views toward technology which both alienates yet liberates him from his contemporaries. He has a girlfriend whom he adores but who has a questionable past and appears to be in trouble...
It's got some interesting characters and some good ideas, but how they're actually put together is very, very odd and I'm not really sure if it works. It's worth a watch if you're a fan of Blade Runner and cyberpunk settings, but as a well-made film I think it's missed the mark. Strange, because Moon was really great.

The Predator: More like Alien vs Predator vs Expendables
I had really low expectations and to be honest all I want from these type of films are soldiers vs aliens action etc but this was still pish. I didn't understand the plot

Spoiler
The movie had a few good laughs (I laughed out loud at the thumbs up scene) but biggest problem was the action scenes, Maybe I'm getting slow but I found the editing in the action scenes really fast! Spoiler

Annihilation
A mixed bag this one. Some elements work really well and are very though provoking. Some elements are pretty weak. It did remind me a LOT of Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky (the inspiration for the Stalker film and the STALKER video games) but that is a better story. Saying that the visuals in this film were amazing.

I really liked that film myself. It helped to read the book after. Would like to see more made in the story.
